Vegas Pro 22 taking 3 - 6 seconds for each split/cut/moving clips/save

I just upgraded recently from Vegas Pro 18.

At first, VP 22 was very smooth and responsive, completely lag-free. But when I started getting into a project just a little, it would gradually start taking more and more time to make each little edit. Just a simple split would take 4 or 5 seconds on average.

I checked Task Manager while this was happening, and my CPU was on 25%. My memory was fluctuating between 70% and 85%.

I tried playing with the preview quality as instructed by someone else, but it wasn't related. I'd assume it may be related to the memory, as VP 22 seems to take up a lot more of it in Task Manager. Perhaps it's a setting I should change? I'm really unsure as I've tried a lot of different things.

PC Specs: Radeon RX 7600, Ryzen 5 5500, 16gb RAM. I am on Windows 11.

Thanks in advance for any answers.

That issue then seems to be stemming from the media you have on the timeline. What's the specific video format is the file this is displaying this behaviour?.... Try doing the same thing with some basic mp4 file to see if it behaves the same.

The file used is an mp4.

I tried creating a new project and using another mp4, and made around 50 random splits, to which there was no lag. I then added an eFX Compressor to all the audio and tried making a split afterwards, and the problem returned. I suppose it's because of that, to which I'll just apply the effect at the end of the project instead.

What's in the problematic MP4? The details make a difference. https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/faq-how-to-post-mediainfo-and-vegas-pro-file-properties--104561/

But if it's only an issue with the audio Fx for some reason I guess that's an answer. I'd still be curious as to what audio format is in the MP4 (AAC? something less standard?)
