I recently install the pro edit 18. It is extremely lagging. It can't function at all. I am sure it is not my computer hardware problem. it is powerful enough to run it. if this is not resolved. I would like to refund it.
symptoms: It is normal when nothing is imported. When a video is imported, if press play, it can't stop. It is very lagging. If two clips imported, they can't be dragged to do fade in and out transition.
That's much more informative. If you go to help/driver update in Vegas does it recommend any newer GPU drivers? If so, try downloading and manually installing them.
For general poor performance you can try resetting Vegas (hold control + shift and double-click the icon on the desktop to start. Let go when it prompts you to clear the cache). This works surprisingly often.
Beyond that can you share what kind of media this is? How to do that here. Does it lag with anything, even say regular h.264 MP4 out of a DSLR or are you using 10-bit 4:2:2, variable framerate, or otherwise challenging footage?
I have just updated my Quadro 2000 driver. Problem is still not solved. Preview is very lagging. once it plays, it cant stop or pause at all. I need to hard shut down the program. In this way, i cant do anything for any work! pls advice what to do.
Some media is going to lag no matter how powerful your system is, so we need details on the media (that mediainfo report Dexcon linked to instructions for) so we can know if it really is something that can be fixed or if that type of media requires proxy files to run smoothly.
Hi, Dexon, Do u mean uploading my problem to ur provided link?
Hi, Roger S, I did reset. it does not help.
Hi, fr0sty, I understand that. The problem is i cant even do anything at all. it is very unusual. As i said, I use Vegas on other less powerful computer. it is not lag at all.
Hi, j-v, I bought from Microsoft store. Can I update more latest version?
It must only be on sale in non-US stores, I wasn't able to find it, sorry.
Yes, the team can help, but we might be able to help you sooner if you can provide us with the mediainfo report on that video file that keeps freezing.
Also, your GPU isn't supported by VEGAS (it's too old, doesn't meet the VEGAS min specs), that is why it is set to "off".
That card does not support hardware decoding, which is something VEGAS uses to speed up video playback. It also only has 1GB of VRAM, which isn't even enough for 1080p editing with some of VEGAS' effects. That could be a major cause of this problem. Some formats, like HEVC, do not decode well on a CPU, so if your GPU cannot help decode it, then it will struggle to play back in VEGAS.
However, you say that on other computers, it works ok... are you editing the exact same video on those other computers, or different files?
Do u mean uploading my problem to ur provided link?
No, not at all. Go to the MediaInfo website and download and install on your computer the MediaInfo program. Then open the MediaInfo program and direct it to one of your media files that is typical of what you are using on Vegas Pro's timeline and save the report in text view (it will then be a very detailed report). Then upload that report to this post via the Upload icon in the top banner of the Comment field.
I was using another computer which is less powerful than my existing one. That computer installed Vegas program. Program runs normally. file is not the same. but doing same a application like importing media and editing.
Runs normally when editing the same files? You said you had to import video files to make it start to freeze up. Are they the same files that worked on the other computer that is less powerful?
I understand that part, i'm just asking if it is the same media you are dragging to the timeline on both computers, because if it is not, there is the possibility that the media on the computer that is causing you problems is corrupted, or in a format VEGAS is struggling to decode.
