Vegas Pro upgrade eligibility (retail version)?

Can I upgrade to Vegas Pro 13 from Movie Studio 12 by buying the retail boxed "upgrade" version? I'm expecting the answer to be "no" but I would appreciate a photo of the eligibility requirements on the box. I did check the requirements for the digital version and they do not include Movie Studio, unless you pay double.

Is it a bad time to buy Vegas Pro? I read here that's it's on its way out. It seems like decent software but it's extremely slow to encode and it makes big files in my experience so far.

If the software meets your requirements and your requirements are unlikely to change in the next few years it becomes a value judgment for you. As a long time user, I wouldn't pay full price but I intend to continue using Vegas Pro for some time into the future.

Files are only as big as need to be for the destination specification you set for the render. Not significantly different to the same destination file-spec from any other app.

- Well.. that kinda depends on the user's render settings and hardware.
Other than that.. Compared to what? .. and are all those render settings equal.

I'm comparing the file size of .mp4s produced by Vegas to .mp4s produced by NVENC

Maybe you can re-encode with Vegas and see how the two compare? I may have screwed up.

For fast mp4 encoding for Internet from Vegas Pro, you need an older Fermi based card like the GTX580; newer cards are not supported for GPU accelerated encoding in Vegas Pro.
