@vegas-edit-user Thanks. To find out I've downloaded a VP23 trial.

Unfortunately its Render Options are set out quite different to what I've been used to with VMS17 and VP21. Very confusing. Some of my existing Favorites from VMS17/VP21 appear but only mp4 ones, not my avc and AC-3.

I haven't found any way of rendering AC-3 audio, nor Blu-ray AVC or AVCHD. There's no Sony AVC/MVC templates. Selecting DVD & Blu-ray brings up a list of MP4 renders with AAC audio. But my experience is that MP4 files are never Blu-ray compliant, and the same goes for AAC audio. DVDA7 would recompress them. I realise that few discs are burnt nowadays but I find this very misleading and incorrect.

Whether this is a restriction of the trial version I don't know. I'll have another play this evening but my first impressions are that I'll be sticking with VP21.

Unfortunately it doesn't solve Jean-yves problem. We need to find a user with VP22 on Win11 which still has the windows AC-3 component.

Edit: I've also just realised that there's no wav option under Audio. Only MP3 is available. Is this a limitation of the trial version? I have the render window set on "Show all formats".

I've now discovered from this thread https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/insufficient-render-codecs-options-in-vegas-pro-23--150176/ that the render options in the trial are very limited. It would be nice if Vegas gave an on-screen message informing the user of this when going to render. During 13 years of trying and purchasing Vegas products it's the first time I've come across this behaviour in a trial version.

Hello everybody, and many thanks trying to solve my Issue :)

My problem's still there even if i'm using a video without sound !

You can find attached, a short video without sound, which has been render from .MTS to a .M2TS file using VP15 AVCHD option. Exact processus was the following :

1- Open the /MTS file with VP15

2- Render it to a M2TS file WITHOUT AUDIO (AVCHD option)

3- Open VP22, import the M2ts file and try to render it to another M2TS file with AVCHD option ==> Doesn't work.

4- Rename the M2ts file tio a .mts file in order ti transfer it on this post

Please, could you try by your side ? Just open this file (no virus :)) with VP15 ==> OK, and VP22 ==> KO

BUT what i Finally guess is that if in VP23, AVCHD option is not stil there, perhaps does thart means that it's just a mistake on VP22, and that they just forget to remove this option !

I'm on Windows 11 25H2 - on the same computer : AVCHD option is working with VP15 and not with Vp22

Regards,

JY

@Jean-yves You need to load the original mts file to a sharing service like Google Drive and give us the link to download. Files uploaded to the forum get re-rendered for streaming.

I'll then have a play tomorrow as it's late here now as I'm GMT+13

EricLNZ wrote on 12/17/2025, 4:26 AM

@Jean-yves Also which build is your VP22?

Jean-yves wrote on 12/17/2025, 8:11 AM

Hello Eric !

try this link in order to donwload a MTS file (only 7 mo) !

My VP22 Build is 250

@Jean-yves Thanks. I downloaded your 00036.mts file and it plays OK with video and audio in both my VP21 and VP23 trial.

Unfortunately I cannot try re-rendering it to another AVCHD file with VP23 as my trial, as previously mentioned, has very limited render options. I don't have VP22 to try.

My system is Win11 25H2 and I still have the Windows AC3 components from an earlier Win 11 build. Also it might be a factor that I have DVDA7 installed which has Dolby AC3 encoder. I don't know if VP is able to access this. I doubt it but I could be wrong.

Reading through this thread again I'm convinced your VP22 AVCHD render problem is because you don't have the Windows AC3 components in your Win11 as presumably it was a fresh install.

I've searched this forum trying to establish when Vegas started using Windows AC3 instead of the Dolby AC3 encoder. The situation is unclear as it's complicated with AC3 5.1 and AC3 Pro. But I suspect your VP15 still had the Dolby decoder for ordinary AC3 stereo which is why it will render AVCHD. With your VP22 and Win 11 without the Windows AC3 components VP22 cannot currently render AVCHD. I say currently as there are workarounds available.

Hi Eric,

good news (I hope). I think I found a solution ..

First, sorry because i thought having already done the following but in fact not :(

==> test :

Render a AVCHD file Without audio (audio option unckecked) => OF COURSE It works even in VP22 !!!

So you're right, the problem seems to be linked to Ac-3 codec.

I try several solutions (proposed by AI)

1- In VP22, activate the legacy AVC decoding : No effect :(

2- Reinstall Microsoft Dolby Ac-3 : I downloaded the package, install it .. : No effect (I've got a fresh install of WIndows 11 and my version is 25H2)

3- Install the package K-Lite-Codec : I downloaded the package, install it : No effect

4- Use the tool 'AnWave' which can bring back to windows features, the dolby Ac-3 : I downloaded the package, install and configure it : It works !!!

I know that my windows has been 'somewhere' downgraded by this action but for the moment, it seems to be working.

I know too that perhaps this tool is 'dangerous' ..my system disagree with its installation but I forced it 😨

Thanks a lot to all of you for help and researches !

I wish you happy 'end of year' holidays !

J-Yves

@Jean-yves Thanks for reporting back and it's great that you have solved the problem. I'll mark your post as the solution as it might help others.

This is never a good idea...

3- Install the package K-Lite-Codec : I downloaded the package, install it

EricLNZ wrote on 12/20/2025, 6:01 PM

@Jean-yves Also what was the package you mentioned here "2- Reinstall Microsoft Dolby Ac-3 : I downloaded the package, install it .. : No effect"?

Jean-yves wrote on 12/22/2025, 2:57 AM

@EricLNZ Hi, IA helps me and propose to me to download the package Dolby AC3 from this URL : https://majorgeeks.com/files/details/dolby_ac_3ac_4_installer.html (The site seems to be safe)

@jetdv : I know it's not a good idea .. that's why i removed the package just after I found 'my' solution .. (which is probably not the best ! but .. it works :))

you can find the solution by following this link too

When I built my out-of-the-box Windows 11 Pro images, I used this script to install the Dolby Digital AC3 codecs.

GitHub - Victor-Freeze/AC-3-for-Windows-11

I found the reference to the script on Reddit by a user S_c_r_a_m_b_l_e_r

Windows 11 24H2 (new installations) have removed Dolby Digital Support
