Vegas VP22 Build 237 update ruined my project?

Jake-B wrote on 1/21/2025, 1:30 PM

I tried to boot up Vegas to do some work on a project I've been chipping away at for a while now and saw that there was a new update out. Without thinking about it I went ahead and downloaded the update, but now all of my video media is completely messed up. Every so often it stutters for a second or so as if it doesn't know what frames come next and that causes the audio to get out of sync in addition to looking terrible. Is there any way I can revert the change so I can have a workable project again? Or otherwise keep the same version and fix the visual issues?

@Jake-B: Go to the File I/O preferences and check Enable Legacy AVC Decoder and restart vegas. Please let us know if that fixes your problem.

For clarification, this is build 237 of Vegas 22, I wasn't specific because the update just came out but I can see why that would get confusing for someone seeing this in the future. The Legacy AVC Decoder fix DID work however so my problem is solved for now.

The team has reproduced this problem and we are carefully assessing the overall impact.

I'm having a similar problem . i imported a 4k 60p file onto my time line and while previewing it's jerky /stuttering . not smooth at all . before the update it was fine. Jake mentioned " Go to the File I/O preferences and check Enable Legacy AVC Decoder and restart vegas. I'm not understanding just what or how to do that. what "file" is he referring too?

@rcflyer It is in the menus- start with options then click on the preferences submenu within VEGAS Pro.

made no difference on my machine . Intel 9900K processor , MSI 1660 super, 1 t m.2 HHD , asus z390 rog Motherboard , 32 gigs ram .... i tried a different file and there was no stutter issue. it very well might be the file i was using. it was captured using my phone . it wasn't a 4k it was a 1080@60fps.

It would be good to know what media is being used that causes the issue as going to legacy AVC decoder should (and I guess will be temporary while Vegas fixes the issue). I use Sony XAVCS at 4K and I am not seeing this issue at all with V22 237.

Just now booting up VP 22 Build 194, I was prompted to update not to Build 237 but rather to Build 239! Also updated to Deep Learning Models V22.1.0.0. I haven't tested anything yet, but apparently Build 237 had some issues that caused Magix to cut to the chase immediately!

It had decoding issues with certain media that were a regression from 194.

Was the media HEVC? Then you needed to check the experimental HEVC box instead. Anyway it should be fixed in build 239.
