If more than 3 people said it... it's got to be true, no?
I thought that once a rumour has been said by 4 people or more, it automatically becomes fact.
Isn't that how the National Enquirer gauged the reliability of their sources?
I think they should hold off releasing Vegas 6 until NAB 2006 and then everything will be nicely in step. If they're really busting a gut to get a new release out for this NAB can they please call it Vegas 5.4
Bob.
I think the version number will depend on what gets added. If it is a minor change - just some filling out of existing features then a 5.x would make sense.
If they have added some major new features then 6.0 will make sense. I'm hoping they've done enough to make it 6.0. There have been some pretty good things on the wishlists.
Of course if it is not ready for NAB, that's not a problem either as I can save a little longer for the upgrade.
I think it's time for the programmers to "trick" the operating systems into supplying 30 gigs of memory for Vegas. Just like Bill did with the 640K dos
problem. Lets face it---it ain't going to get faster with new things such as HDV, 4D, etc. Maybe use Mr Whittens' theory of strings.
I heard it's going to get everything we've been asking for packed full of so many features that they're going to have to bypass a Vegas v6.0 release all together and name it Vegas 7.0. Vegas 6.0 will get all the video user feature requests and v7.0 will get all the audio user feature requests, so to avoid another video features vs audio features argument they're just going to release a full featured 7.0. Infact I also heard they're going to take that one step further and elliminate the majority bugs of the initial 7.0 and just release the v7.0a update. My sources could be wrong though, unless anyone has heard this also?
I'm anticipating the unanticipated, and want to be among the first to loudly silence the expert amateurs and diminuative giants engaged who have brought spoken thought to the secret rumors about Vegas 6.
I don't know when the next version of Vegas is going to be released, but it's got some pretty damn cool stuff packed in there.
Buster, you always crack me up, you seem to always be filled with glik.
Spot, you're a mensch for saying that. You know me, all glik on the outside, but inside I'm all shpilkes and mishegas.
As for Vegas 6, these meshuggener k'nockers all think they're mavens. Nudnik machers, I call them. Some people just get their nachas from kvetching and being a farbisener and making tsuris.
OK, let's get this thread back onto the highly accurate rumors that Vegas 6 will be released at the National Association of Broadcasters on convention 5 weeks from now.
Here's an interesting link about how the "Senior Director for the award winning news leader ABC’s “Nightline” with Ted Koppel" is excited about working with Vegas.
Here's the website for Future Media Concepts which is one of the premier multimedia trainning centers in the country which now has Sony listed on their site, but no classes scheduled yet.
There's also a big meeting of all the Vegas user groups sponsored by Sony and others. That day may be a good time to release a new product
Gads, you're good, Buster....you should be a detective instead of a Yiddish comedian.
You know who wrote the George Murphy/NAB stuff, right? :-)
George is one of two presenters at the Vegas Users Group event as well, he's an amazing person with a credit list long and respectable.
NAB will definitely hold a lot of interesting HDV, DV, hardware, and software announcements regardless of whether there is a Vegas 6 announcement or not.

What is it J.J. Hunsecker says in Sweet Smell of Success?
For some reason I have serious doubts Vegas 6 will be released at NAB. It seems to early to me. In my opinion I'd say end of 2005. Soundforge 8 was just released and Vegas 5 was released less than a year ago. I would LOVE to see it as early as NAB though.
