VegasPro20's SoundForge 16 wouldn't import .mp3 file.

I purchased VegasPro20 with Soundforge Suite 16 (SF16) included in package. I launched SF16 w/o (VP20 launched) and tried to open an .mp3 audio file into SF16. It presented a message requiring QuickTime app. I downloaded QuickTime 7.7.9 and tried again. Soundforge again presented an error msg. See attachment.

QT is not necessary for MP3 files. When MP3 files do not open or encode in Sound Forge, 'Reset All preferences and catched data' (in Sound Forge 'File' menu) usually fixes it. This MP3 misbehavior is rather common.

I think installing a version of QT is still necessary to open and encode AAC files.. but maybe not since Vegas has an AAC codec.

@garuda, you maybe should have posted this query in the Magix Sound Forge forum,

Thanks rraud -- your suggestion worked!! Sorry about posting on wrong forum, I'm new here and don't use it often enough to learn the drill. I thought the "vegascreativesoftware" site was the only forum, which is where I always go. But should have surmised an alternative forum when I couldn't find SoundForge on the Vegas forum.

I'm used to using sites like "www.tenforums.com" where everything is under one umbrella with a variety of different categories for each subject. Thanks for steering me to Magix forum for Audio issues.

Edited: I still can't find the button for finding my posts. I can't find it in my profile, or any right-click dropdown panels. Nor does the search argument find them.
