Thanks,

Knowing the scope helps a lot. You're looking for a Digital Asset Management (DAM) system that can deal with timecode entries for video in addition to dealing with all sorts of other media like powerpoint and PDF.

I don't have anything particular in mind, I've just been looking at your requirements and trying to figure out how to find the right tool.

Here's another example of a system. If nothing else, you can pick out keywords for searches:

This might be something that Avid sells, I suppose.

I found this interesting software for video file indexation (or "transcription"). Saddly, there is no database capability.

Inqscribe requires quicktime. To me this seems to get you right back to CatDV.

Not exactly. You can chose to preview files with Windows media player in the prefered player option and it works without problems (wich is not the case with catDV).

BTW, peoples form Inqscribe told me that they think of adding some cataloging cabability to the soft, wich could be very interesting.

I may also develop a dedicated application with Macromedia Director for my client if we can't find a suitable one in what actually exist (with a simple, non technicaly oriented user interface, intergrated video player and indexing capability).

You might think about Flex for that. I have a coworker who's been very enthusiastic about it and, hopefully, it'd allow you to leverage your director experience while also letting you author something that's more widely usable.

I wonder if VLC might offer a good framework for this? Something that uses FFMPEG?

Sony Media Go.... For Playstation it does the same job as the Media Manager. But it is stand alone. Media Manager PRO for PSP™ 3.0.

Download updates.
