Video Event FX Window

Reyfox wrote on 5/11/2022, 6:33 PM

It's late, I'm tired and I know there is a way to keep the same size of a Video Event FX window when you exit it, but can't remember what it is.

Can anyone help this old person who is up way past his bedtime (1:33AM)? The window always has to be resized when I add a new FX to a timeline video event.

Double Click the top of the dialog box to maximize?

Try turning off Auto Resizing in preferences.

I would say the opposite, Turn ON Auto resizing in preferences or other option: dock the Video Event FX window:

Thanks gentlemen. @john_dennis, if I expand the Video Event FX window to anything larger when it first appeared, and double left click, it shrinks to a size smaller than when initially opened. If I chose a Video FX on a clip and open it and double click, nothing happens. The way it works isn't consistent at all. And this is with using Vegas FX.

@3POINT and @lan-mLMC, I can't for the life of me find Auto Resizing in Preferences.

@lan-mLMC thanks! Allergy eyes .....

And your solution is working for me! Thanks! Unchecking Resizing solves my problem.

I'm glad your problems are over. Until now I've always advised turning it off because I think it' brings more problems than conveniences.

Which I cannot confirm, enabling auto resizing gives me always full FX-window for every FX which also automatically grows when enabling more parameters. No manual resizing needed.

example

Reyfox wrote on 5/12/2022, 10:47 AM

@3POINT if I had that experience, and by default, it is check marked, I would not have bothered asking about it.

I've had to resize every FX window to properly work in Vegas. I don't mind manually resizing a couple of times, but I was using Graide Color Match and each time the FX window opened (while resizing was check marked), I had to resize it manually. It was the same with a lot of other FX chosen.

It's possible it could be something on my end... I don't rule out anything. But for now, I am happy... for now.... 😉

Yes, if turn on auto resizing, there will be a lot of issues when using some third-party plug-ins with advanced UI or lots of parameters, such as Boris FX Continuum, Graid Color Curve. In addition to the UI zooming issues Reyfox mentioned, it also causes zooming issues in the OFX keyframe area, the disappearance of the FX window close button, and more potential problems.

The largest third party plugin I use is as shown Mercalli. If lots of parameters let window grow beyond display height just use columns to display auto correct seized windows.

Passing by, no one seems to be using the damnnnnn two or three column FX window, the most important preview window and timeline are blocked.

john_dennis wrote on 5/12/2022, 7:20 PM

@xcxz-a

The three column fX window doesn't block the timeline or preview if it's on a different physical screen.

@xcxz-a fine if it's docked on a 4k screen

Reyfox wrote on 5/13/2022, 8:45 AM

Like @Former user I work on a 4K monitor. I've always had the "3 columns" highlighted. But again, still always had to resize some of the effects. And yes, using another monitor can help a lot in video editing for sure.
