Video Event on Timeline not refreshing after splitting during playback

On Vegas Pro 22 and now 23, when I am "playing" any video or photo (any format), while playing back the photo/video on the timeline, and then splitting the event (S Key) while in playback, the remaining event (footage) on the timeline - to the right of the split, shows up empty with no preview images (frames), until I stop the playback and the preview frames show. I have tried reinstalling the software, disabling GPU rendering, adding more Dynamic Ram etc... I am not sure how to correct this. This recently started happening when I did the latest Vegas Pro 22 Update a few weeks ago. Has anyone experienced this and do you have any thoughts or suggestions?

@Scott-Relivit

I tried your scenario with the last and final releases of Vegas Pro 21 and 22. Both versions exhibit that behavior on the machine in my signature.

Vegas Pro 13 updates the thumbnails on the timeline with a fair amount of delay, but I don't have to stop playback.

We're prioritizing preview over thumbnails. The old behaviour was causing several issues like choppy playback after project load, hugh load on the GPU due to seeking, blocked readers,...
This change has definately helped VEGAS to feel more snappy. We hope to improve the resource management in the future to allow more parallel tasks.
