Video format for USB flash drive playback.

I have a one hour HD project edited on Sony Vegas 10 timeline. I need to render it out and put it on a USB flash drive for playback on a Samsung smart TV and Blu-ray player with USB input.

My question is what are some of the render formats and bit rates that work well with USB flash drive playback?

Also do I need to buy any special type of USB flash drive for media playback?

The files on my timeline are avchd 1920x1080 60i. The video going on the flash drive doesn't  need to be that high but needs to play smooth and look good.

I've never had an issue with video at any bit rate played from a USB flash drive, though conceivably it could happen. I buy 16 GB Patriot USB3 capable drives for around $15.

Most of my souce is around 15 to 16 mbps so that's where I hang.

Remember most flash drives are formatted FAT32 by default, so one must honor the file size restriction.

I reformat mine to NTFS and my Blu-ray player reads it. YMMV

Formatting a USB flash drive to NTFS will eliminate the 4gb limitation but will it limit its compatibility with smart TVs or blu-ray players?

"but will it limit its compatibility with smart TVs or blu-ray players"
As John Dennis implied, yes and no.
It needs to be tested on each system individually.

Like I said, the Blu-ray player doesn't mind. My WD TV player doesn't mind. The Sync in my wife's car chokes on anything not FAT32.
