Video Preview and Render keeps showing black in Vegas Pro 18

I made a previous forum post asking how to fix an issue in Vegas Pro 18 where my video preview and render would show black while audio would still work. I found that the solution to fix it is to reset Vegas. Unfortunately for me I've found that any time I close and reopen Vegas the screen goes back to black. I can reset Vegas to fix this issue but it's become quite frustrating that EVERY time I open a project I must make sure I'm resetting it. It's not exactly a fast thing to do and it deletes all my presets. It's seriously frustrating and inconvenient.

Does anyone know why this happens and what I can do to stop it? I've used multiple versions of Vegas in the past, most recent being Vegas Pro 16 and none of them had this issue. I only recently upgraded to Vegas Pro 18 and I'm already regretting it because it feels barely functional with this glitch, and Magix doesn't have a return policy for downloaded software.

This is my device information:

- Windows 10 Pro, 64-Bit
- Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-7700K CPU @ 4.20GHz
- 65453 MB RAM

My graphics card is GEForce GTX 1080.

Is this specific to a certain type of file (is this a rip of something)?

Try the NVIDIA Studio (not gaming) driver.

You should stick with the original post and not make double postings - the original post had exactly the same topic and is only one day old.
Otherwise it will be very confusing here.

It's all my videos, all formats and types. And I've found it only works if I open Vegas specifically through a reset. But then if I close Vegas and open again it stops working again. I do have the NVIDIA Studio Driver. I have a couple of other video editing softwares on my computer, like Premiere Pro and Vegas Pro 16 (that I haven't uninstalled yet). And these same videos work in those softwares. So I'm thinking it's not a video issue and something is specifically wrong with Vegas Pro 18.

I've been messing around in Vegas trying different things and I've found if I resize the video preview screen my video shows. But the second I go back to the timeline it goes back to black. I'm not sure why that's happening.

So this is the project when I was messing with the video preview panel size and suddenly my clip appeared:

But then I clicked back in the timeline and it went back to black:

I'm sorry for making two posts on this. I marked the other post with a solution because I thought it was fixed when I tried that reset and everything was working... Then when I reopened Vegas later and saw the exact same thing happened again I knew it wasn't fixed. I didn't mean to be confusing.

EDIT: Okay I feel like an idiot now. I've spent the past 4 hours watching every single video on YouTube about black preview panels and finally found one that WORKED. I had to go to Options > Preferences > Video > And change GPU Acceleration of Video Processing to "None". I have no idea why my NVIDIA graphics card was causing Vegas 18 such agony and why it did not effect 16. I'll just take the W.
