Video Tracks screen redrawing issue

WHE wrote on 12/28/2021, 2:09 AM

Does anyone else have issues with Vegas 19 constantly redrawing the video tracks? It really slows everything down. Issue with builds 424 and 458. Are there any settings to investigate to stop this? We are working on HD projects not 4k.

Specs:

Video Card: Elsa Nvidia Geforce RTX 2070 Super 472.47 (studio ready)
Memory: 16GB (Corsair XMS3 DDR3)
System: Microsoft Windows 10.0.19043
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3770K CPU @ 3.50GHz, 3501 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 8 Logical Processor(s)
Asus P8Z77-V Pro Motherboard

Thanks in advance.

By redrawing, I take that to mean that a delay is experienced after moving the timeline while Vegas Pro repopulates the video events with thumbnails of each video event. If so, the method by which the thumbnails appear can be changed by going to Preferences/Video (tab) and changing the selection in the "Thumbnails to show in video events" field. To speed things up, I have long used the 'Head' option so that only a short thumbnail appears at the head of each event and the remainder of the event is the track color when the video events are stretched out on the timeline.

Yes, thanks, I've never had an issue with this with other versions. Also I've just found that there is a 3-4 second delay when trying to re-edit text. The dialogue window opens up small and then expands and then finally shows the text. Is there any way to make Vegas 19 less sluggish?

Given that you are experiencing a number of issues, a strong consideration would have to be a new computer. Please see the minimum recommended specs for Vegas Pro 19 (similar for Vegas Pro 18) - https://www.vegascreativesoftware.com/us/specifications/#productMenu

Your CPU (i7-3770 - released 9.5 years ago) is 3 generations earlier than the minimum 6th gen CPU recommended for HD editing, 4 generations earlier than the minimum 7th gen recommended for 4K editing. Computer requirements for Vegas Pro versions prior to 18 were less stringent than for 18 and 19 and, of course, your computer almost certainly met the minimum specifications for Vegas Pro 12, 13 and very possibly a few later versions.

While I second a better CPU, perhaps a reset might help if you had VP 18 or 19 working better in the past?

Thanks for the replies and the link. I switched off "Use high DPI scaling" in the display preferences and re-editing text is now appearing almost instantly.
