VP15: Facebook live video fail

wwjd wrote on 12/27/2017, 8:58 AM

I did a LIVE STREAM on Facebook. Later, it let me "download" it, so I pulled it into VP15. It asked to set the size and frame rate to the video, so I did. I believe it selected 25fps. The audio was a jumbled choppy mess, video appeared fine. Pulled it into Vegas Pro 14, loaded and played just fine, but the Framerate 14 chose was 25.513 (if I recall), not 25. I was able to make it work at 24, and 60fps, no audio problems.

Anyone else mess with FACEBOOK LIVE video downloads? I did not select 25fps on my phone, I just hit go and let whatever magic happen.

This is a bug, unless everyone else can do this without issue. It SOUNDS like 15 isn't detecting the frame rate correctly, compared to 14.

Tried to DOWNLOAD the video now from FB, but the option is missing? So, it is at home on a drive - I'll upload to Google Drive tonight for testing. Here's the FB video link if you can get to it: https://www.facebook.com/greg.best.3152/videos/1513856368724294/

It's a variable frame rate in this video which goes from 1,5 to 25,5 fps. There's no way for Vegas Pro to detect the "right" frame rate because Vegas Pro needs a fixed frame rate (and any rate between 1,5 and 25,5 fps could be right here). Though it plays fine here in VP15.

But it works fine in 14?

Marco. wrote on 12/27/2017, 9:28 AM

Also works fine in VP15 here.

Thanks for the assist, Marco. Did you do anything special to load into 15? I just dropped it on timeline and allowed it to pick matching settings for project.

Marco. wrote on 12/27/2017, 9:50 AM

Yes, same workflow. I dragged it from the Vegas Explorer to the timeline.

There's one single gap in the audio which is 7 frames long and is placed at about 20 seconds.

NickHope wrote on 12/27/2017, 11:29 AM

It works OK for me too in VP14 and 15. I downloaded "normal quality" from https://www.fbdown.net/

The "matched" frame rate in VP14 is 25.518 and in VP15 is 25. I've started taking variable frame rate figures from MediaInfo with a pinch of salt. The effect on a Vegas timeline is never as bad as those extreme numbers imply that it will be. The numbers might be technically right, but it could be just a frame or two that gives those wild variations.

I see the same audio gap as Marco.

Try disabling or even enabling so4compoundplug. Try disabling or enabling GPU acceleration of video processing.

wwjd wrote on 12/27/2017, 12:23 PM

The audio dropout is probably just faulty broadcast from crappy phone. :)

Thanks for the feedback, guys! Much appreciated. Sounds like it is just MY 15 configuration, so I will sort it out. Very basic 15 install, no special tweaks. I'll try the options you recommended.
