VP18 Motion Tracking Transfer VS Vegasaur Pin Effects to Motion Track

lan-mLMC wrote on 8/3/2020, 1:58 PM

Position parameters detecting. Take BCC Lens Flare 3D for example :

VP18 : Detecting resault is rough and many parameters are error; Besides, if the third-party plugins are non-English, such as JP, CN, the Motion Tracking Transfer can't detect them out more.

Vegasaur : Detecting resault is detail and all parameters are correct.

===============================Cutting line=============================

Pin / Transfer accuracy . Take VEGAS Lens Flare for example :

VP18 : Transfer is inaccurate in about the last 40 frames.

Vegasaur : All accurate.

===============================Cutting line=============================

Summarize :

Motion Tracking Transfer still need to more improved.

And Vegas Team should consider recruitting Vegasur developers. Their knowledge and enthusiasm about Vegas Pro may have transcended Vegas Team. It reflected in preexisting Vegasaur Tweener, Beat Detector, Pin Effects to Motion Track and so on.

If they join Vegas Team, Maybe It will make Vegas Pro has qualitative leap.

@lan-mLMC Thanks for your feedback. We will have a look at this and fix it asap.

lan-mLMC wrote on 8/5/2020, 5:31 AM

@VEGASPascal And there is a design flaw of new plugin window : Everytime lanuching Vegas Pro 18, the all BCC plugins' 20 groups are all checked default, like BCC Particle, BCC Stylize, BCC Light...... Then if you want to only see one group of them, you must uncheck other 19 groups one by one everytime launching Vegas. This is a design flaw. It will be good if there is "select all" and "deselect all" buttons. 😃

@lan-mLMC Good point... goes on the feature wish list. 😉

@lan-mLMC The issue is that Lens Flare's positional parameter do follow the rule for a spatial coordinate parameter. Its range is from [-1,-1] to [1,1]. Currently, only parameters with [0,1] range are supported. Nevertheless, there will be a fix in the next update.

lan-mLMC wrote on 8/5/2020, 8:56 AM

@Vegas_Sebastian Can you make a auto transform arithmetic so that whatever range it is, motion tracking transfer can fit it. Because next time we may use a parameter of which the range is x[-0.5,0.5],y[-0.5,0.5] or x[-0.5,0.5], y[-1,1]. or other more irregular range.

====================================================================

For example, motion tracking range is x[0,1], y[0,1]. So its x span is a=1-0=1, y span is b-0=1.

Then the tracking point variation: x[0.5]y[0.5] -①-> x[0.4]y[0.6] -②-> x[0.2]y[0.7] ,

① means : x-0.1, y+0.1 ② means : x-0.2, y+0.1

So, suppose that, transfer to a parameter of which the x span is c , y span is d .

the variation should be ① : x-0.1*c, y+0.1*d ② : x-0.2*c, y+0.1*d

====================================================================

Something like this may make motion tracking transfer fit all kinds of position parameters.  It's just my thought, may be wrong. 😄

Yes, that is the plan, to consider the parameter range.

In Motion Tracking, I discovered another strange behavior.

1. If I mark an object in the middle of an event and press the "Track Both Directions" button, the result is almost never complete. The beginning is always missing.

2. When you open FX, a new gray box will appear slightly higher. It's very confusing.

3. Not working for ProType titler and Color Gardient. Although I will previously insert a PIP plugin into these events. Motion Tracking only works with Solid Color.

4. For Vegas Title and Text, you can use the Location function. When a locomotive arrives, the caption decreases on arrival. It should be the other way around. So a bigger locomotive - a bigger headline.
Can you explain the Location option to me more? Why doesn't it work for other events as well?

That's all for now.
Your faithful Beta tester.

Next point

5. If you add text and press Export to PIP directly in Motion Tracking, the title will automatically be placed in the center of the frame. The movement of the text is calm, without shocks. But very often I need to put the text somewhere else and resize it, so first I add PIP FX to the text, and only then I apply motion. This is the result:

If I place the text at the top points of Motion Tracking, it shakes just like two points.

If I place the text to the bottom points, it shakes like the bottom points.

here it is clear to see how the individual points affect the size of the smiley.

I think it's bad, because the text will never be as calm and fluid as a locomotive. The text should be as quiet as the center of the Motion Tracking box.

Imagine a situation where there is a person on the left and you place a text on the right that should move just like a person. In the current situation, the text will only be tapped according to two adjacent points in Motion Tracking. Not the sum of all 4 points.

Good point... goes on the feature wish list. 😉

Pascal, I added another finding.

frmax wrote on 8/7/2020, 6:51 PM

I´ve tried to reproduce some of the issues.

My findings: It´s difficult to select best region for that new motion tracking, I needed several tries. Show motion vector after tracking maybe helpful If (in case of "Titles&Text" ) the tracking was only of "Shape and Location" then applying to the text as location , the result was okay.

pierre-k wrote on 8/8/2020, 3:34 AM

6. Often a frame from Motion Tracking remains in the Preview window even if the playhead is elsewhere, or I click on another event. It should ONLY appear correctly when working on events where Motion Tracking is applied. Or not?

To reliably reproduce the error:
first click on the Motion Tacknig event and then on another event.

Here is a link to a video with a locomotive for your tests.

PS: With each new release of Vegas, I spend my time locked up for many days at the PC and discovering new bugs, instead of bathing in a beautiful lake with ducks and unicorns.

Probably love.

7. Take this point as a suggestion for the next update

It often happens that I need to enlarge the title or move it elsewhere, even when the work is done. Due to the PIP combination method, this is impossible.

I now have two options. Either I delete the PIP from the text and start again, or I apply another PIP so I can move the text. However, the text moves differently because the route is skewed.

The procedure should be as follows:
Step 1. After automatically clicking on the PIP in Motion Tracking, the text is automatically centered. Ok. This is how it works well.
Step 2. Only now should I be able to enlarge or move the text. And this possibility is missing.

I really don't know how to do it.

8. It is absolutely necessary to add a zoom of the video preview using the mouse wheel. With a 100% image preview, Motion Tracking cannot be done professionally!

Today it looks like the Ten Commandments.

9. Error message

The workflow is as follows ....
Step 1. I will find the perfect place for Motion Tracking in the event. The result is smooth and solid.
Step 2. I want to blur the driver or anything else on the locomotive in the picture.
Step 3. Open Bezier Masking and Defocus FX and specify the location to be blurred.
step 4. In Motion Tracking, I apply point conversion to Bezier Masking

Result - error message.

I chose this procedure because some areas are not always ideal for great results in Motion Tracking.
It makes sense for me to choose an area that will provide great results for Motion Tracking. I will use Bezier Masking for something else near the selection - locomotive windows, brand or lights.

@pierre-k

I can confirm most of your findings, but I am not an expert....

My personal impression is, that defining correct region to track and getting appropiate results is very difficult/tricky, sometimes seems to be random. No progress since bezier masking of VP 17.

BTW: This thread is tagged as "resolved", I fear, that many users will not give an eye to it. I would suggest you to re-open it as a new topic.
