VP19 fine but newly installed VP22 won't even attempt to open

Video_flaneur wrote on 9/23/2024, 1:40 AM

I have just upgraded to VP22 suite from earlier versions. AcidPro 11 and Soundforge 18 open fine. VP19 still works, but VP22 doesn't attempt to open - it doesn't even open the small splash screen. I have rebooted reinstalled it and tried running as administrator from the application folder, disconnected internet, but there is no activity. The task manager doesn't seem to register any activity - just nothing.

Any suggestions would be most welcome.

See this thread - https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/vegas-pro-22-won-t-run-after-last-nights-windows-update--147255/#ca925675 - which shows that updating Microsoft Visual C++ solved the problem (there's an MS link in the 2nd comment after the original post).

@Video_flaneur First suggestion i would suggest you try..... Make sure you have the latest .Net Framework for your system, from Microsoft installed: LINK .... And the latest Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables: LINK

Then make sure all your graphics / video card etc are updated to the latest drivers.

Try those first, then see where we go from there.

Thank you for your guidance. C++, Net framework and graphics drivers all appear to be up to date. Curiously, VP21 installs fine on my older, lower-specced laptop. (Newer laptop Surface Pro6 - i7-8650U; older laptop Surface Pro 5 - 15 7300U) but not on my newer one. Both have most of the same software installed. A suspect may be ArcGIS recently installed on my newer laptop. Thank you for your help - I will continue to investigate.

I would try the C++ repair as it helped a few of us with this issue, myself included.

Thank you. I have already done that but no joy.

Just tried again this morning to boot VP22. I do this about once a week just in case settings have changed and allow VP22 to function.

In the past I have received no onscreen messages, but this morning for the first time I received these 2 messages.

"Application Initialization
Error Code 59"

followed by:

"An error occurred starting VEGAS Pro. There is no license to use this software."

The software is legally purchased and is already running on one other (less powerful) computer.

I will now try following the steps on this page and see if that works.

Success!!!! After multiple uninstalls and reinstalls over a period, VP22 finally agreed to show its head. The source of the problem remains unknown. Now to knuckle down to some serious editing.

Probably not the case, but FWIW -- if it is a recent build of Win 11, perhaps have a look at Security --> Protection History.

This one bit me for a couple of hours when installing v22...

@Video_flaneur Glad you finally got it up and running.

Thank you everyone for your help. I think my problem was that with all previous attempts I only uninstalled VP22. The last time I uninstalled VP22 and the AI components and that may have made the difference. Thank you all.
