VP21 Build 208 Not Responding

Roger Bansemer wrote on 12/15/2023, 1:39 PM

OK.... downloaded the new version... Worked with it yesterday with several Not Responding issues. Today opened a new project and dropped a dozen events in the timeline and I get the Not Responding error every couple of minutes. Am I the only one with this issue? Ranting here, but I spend more time restarting the project than I do editing !
Any new suggestions? Vegas should work right out of the box I should think without having to go through heroics every time we have a new update. PLEASE VEGAS FIX THIS.

The following refers to the File I/O tab in Options/Preferences.

If you are using .mp4 (AVC) video, try checking the "Enable legacy AVC decoding" checkbox - or unchecking it if it is already checked.

If you are using HEVC video , try unchecking "Enable experimental HEVC decoding" if is already checked - or if it unchecked, try checking it.

Vegas Pro must be closed down and re-opeed for any of these changes to take effect.

I'm giving that a try this morning. I've unchecked the "enable legacy AVC decoding" box and I'll give it a try.
I appreciate the help of everyone on the forum.

I'll uncheck legacy and give that a try.

I've unchecked the legacy box. Here's a video on what I experience. I did a snagit recording of Vegas and you can see how long I can work without it freezing. I don't know if this is the new version I just installed or what but it's TOTALLY unusable for me. I really hope someone who works for Vegas sees this.

I'm open to suggestions. I really think Vegas should simply work without us end users dealing with this.

Sometimes before it crashes I have to look at a preview like this.

... I'm set on "Good - Quarter" and it's still lags. How on earth can I finish this program I've been working on for two weeks. This lag thing lessens, not entirely but somewhat, when I just solo the one track but who can keep doing that when I have multiple tracks !

No idea what could be the reason with you without knowing what your settings are at video and file I/O.
Please screenshots of both

I just copy and pasted my project into Vegas 17 hoping I could start fresh. Well... I have the same issues with lag and locking up. Soooo, this looks like it is an issue with Vegas in association and my computer. Any suggestions? Sure spending a lot of time just trying to get back to editing. Everything was pretty OK until I installed this new version of Vegas a few days ago.

Thanks for your help. Here it is.

I've spent all day with this. Is there any way to just re-install the version just before the one that we were offered a couple of days ago?

Thanks, the only thing I see is the amount of reserved Dyn RAM Prev Max, set it back to 0 or default.
Which Nvidia drivers are being used, Can you give a screenshot of the result of Help/Chrck for Driver Updates?

Hi John, I don't know what all that means. After unchecking the few boxes you suggested, this new verson is still crashing every single minute. I'll have my computer on for an hour or so but then I think I'll have to quit for the day.
