@JHendrix Post Mediainfo report for the MOV file in question. Does it require the Quicktime plugin inside your Windows VM?

JHendrix wrote on 12/31/2025, 10:21 PM

How is media report generated? This is bootcamp not a VM. VV always used to be QT dependent and I have it installed. not sure how dependent 22 is.

This type of file shouldn't need QuickTime. Try unchecking legacy AVC decoding in preferences file io.

it was unchecked by default

.

Good, it should be unchecked.

What I'm a little confused about is why it is opening with the older so4compound decoder. Does renaming it to .mp4 make it open with mxcompound?

also tried rendering and even that was out of sync

@JHendrix start with project settings equally resolution and framerate of the .mov file. For problematic files it's always possible to convert them to edit friendly files with free Shutterencoder.

RogerS wrote on 1/1/2026, 1:12 AM

What's the source of this file? Is it a screen capture? 2558x1438x32 resolution is unusual. It's still opening with so4compound for some reason so mp4 didn't help anything.

Share the file on a cloud sharing site, Dropbox, OneDrive, Google Drive and post the link:

We can crowd source a solution if it is a media problem.

JHendrix wrote on 1/1/2026, 12:42 PM

I had to move on, i just re compressed it as mp4 and good to go

RogerS wrote on 1/1/2026, 5:25 PM

My guess is a high keyframe interval and possibly other challenging compression settings. A reencode is a good workaround.
