Weird Clip Mask Issue

Hey, hope someone can help out. I am working with old Sony Vegas 12.0 (Windows 7.0) and a weird issue cropped up. Trying to use a Mask on one clip, I made a rectangle shape over part of a clip but then decided to do something else and Reset the Mask. Working with a different clip in a different project, I noticed that every time I loaded a plug in for effects (either Sony or NewBlueFX), that same rectangle mask shape I tried on the original clip would appear, and that part of the clip would not show the effect(s) I added. This happens even though I have no mask effects on that particular clip. When I render, the rectangle goes away and clip plays as it should. However, every time a plug-in is used, or when a part of the video with a clip that has a plug-in becomes in need of rendering, that little rectangle comes back on every clip, whether it is a video or picture, and it happens on every project.

I have deleted all temporary files but this did not help. Because the version is so old, I have resisted trying to reinstall Sony Vegas 12.0 until I can find out if anyone else has ever encountered this and solved it. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!

@monte1988ย - I believe I know your issue. Can we have a ScreenGrab of your Preview Window, including itโ€™s Toolbar.

Turn off "Split Screen View" - it's the button above the preview screen that's a circle that's half dark and half light.

Jetdv, that worked!!! Not sure why, though, that the split screen view would show just a small rectangle without the effects. I will post a screen shot when I get a moment so it is visible.

This is a screen shot of what I had been experiencing...that one random rectangular section at the top would not accept the plug-in effects. Turning off the Split Screen view took care of the problem, but I am curious as to why that small area is chosen. Does this seem unusual or is it nothing to bother with? Thanks Grazie and jetdv, greatly appreciate your willingness to help out a novice!

@monte1988, you can manually select different areas to show/not show the effects. You, apparently, drew a small rectangle in that area. The dropdown beside that button also contains left half, right half, and other options. It can be a very useful tool. Look it up in the help file!

jetdv, I saw your post and went into Sony Vegas to get familiar with that split screen function. I must have done that small rectangular section without knowing what the heck I was doing. But now I have learned about how that split screen function works and how I might be able to use it properly and to my advantage going forward! Thanks for solving this and for allowing me to become a little more educated on the software!
