The Z7 is really really good. The EX1 adds a sensor that is 50% bigger across (1/2" vs. 1/3") and has 50% higher resolution (1920x1080 vs. 1440 x 1080), and beefier image processing.

Will that make a difference in practice? Depends.

And if you really want to use your Depends, just wait for the next camera to come along.

There will always be a new camera to supersede anything you already bought and parch your mouth in the process, but you'll go nuts if you try to keep up more often than once every couple of years at best, and you'll lose a lot of time learning a new system, so it better be a big step up.

John, I actually shoot HQ 1920x1080 30p.

I haven't seen any halos, and I shot a big stage production with Michael Tilson Thomas. I've got one close-up of a trumpet player. The lights reflecting in her mirror-finish trumpet show no halos, if that's what you're referring to. Otherwise, you need to tell me what to look for.

"John, I actually shoot HQ 1920x1080 30p. "

30p may avoid a lot of problems.
25p to 50i could be a different kettle of fish.
50i HD to 50i SD ditto.
Shooting 24p in 50Hz land definately has major issues.
60p in 50Hz land has some real challenges: SloMo test

Shooting 25P HD for PAL DVD works for me. Shooting 60fps with 50Hz lighting is a challenge, CMOS or no.
