What's the KeyBoard Shortcut to SELECT an EVENT?

Grazie wrote on 12/20/2018, 2:51 AM

Yup, been using Double LeftClick Mouse for decades, now I want the KB SC for it - please?

TIA - Grazie

I use the script "select video and audio at cursor" (from John Meyer 2004 - updated to VP14) with my Shuttle Pro V2

@walter-i. - Thanks. So no KB SC?

Yes, there only is a native keyboard shortcut available to select adjacent events from the one currently selected.

For selecting adjacent events you could use 7 and 9 on the num pad (it may need to press key twice).

For anything else you'd need scripting (I think this one which selects events under cursor is also in Vegasaur) which then can be used as keystroke.

@Marco. @walter-i. - The thing is, lads, I can set a Mouse Click x 2 to a CSP2 Button. It works beautifully, no need for an additional script. But what I want is to be able to ADD this MCx2 to a MACRO. The easiest way would be to have a KB SC.

Curious why you would use a double-click to select an event. Selecting only needs a single-click, while double-clicking adds a loop-region around the event.

Using the doubled mouse-click in a macro works same ways as adding it to the Contour Shuttle (which also uses macros for its processes).

@Marco. Which is what I want and be able to include this into the CSP Macro Builder. So far I’ve not been able to track down a KB SC that I can include into the CSP Macro Builder.

I try to imaging what exactly this would need to do and what exactly would be achieved in the end.
If it should really be a double-click solely, then this would need to have placed the mouse cursor correctly before which only can be done by using the mouse. But if you used the mouse anyway – is there any advantage to fullfill first part of the process by using the mouse and second part by using the shuttle?

I think if your aim is to have a loop-region set around a certain event then using a script is a much better solution.

I land my Mouse Cursor on Event using Right hand WITH my Left hand already on the CSP to activate a Macro. For me this creates a superior, creative workflow. Personal preference here.

No, my aim is to create a more creative Workflow - In essence I want to be able to ADD the 2xSelect Event to an existing MACRO. Once I can do that then it is a Single CSP Button hit.

Sorry for obstinately asking. What exactly should this added process do?

Selecting the event?

Or adding a loop-region to the event?

No you aren't 😉 - It's doing both, I'm happy.

Now, also being obstinate, what I still want to be able to do is to add this 2xClick to the MACRO Builder.

Former user wrote on 12/20/2018, 7:43 AM

You should be able to add a 2x click to the CSP macro. Add 2 mouse clicks with a slight pause in-between.

Marco. wrote on 12/20/2018, 8:05 AM

Grazie, I'm sitting in front of my old Contour Shuttle and I see the problem (at least if you also use the older basic version, not the newer Pro one). No way to manually modify or write the macro.

Surely you can set a double-click within the configuration panel, but you can only use it solely, not combined with any other action. Then this again would force you to either use a script solution or another macro software behind the CS.

Grazie wrote on 12/20/2018, 8:11 AM

You'd think 🤔 .... I’m only seeing Mouse Click in the non-MACRO Menu Selection, not seeing revealed in the Macro Builder.

Add 2 mouse clicks with a slight pause in-between.

Yup, I'm using a PAUSE option.

Its getting the Mouse Click revealed in the MACRO Builder that’s the stumbling block.

Former user wrote on 12/20/2018, 8:16 AM

It seems like this was discussed before and I believe you are correct, there was no way to program a mouse click as a macro action. Let me research.

Grazie wrote on 12/20/2018, 8:19 AM

@Marco. & @Former user : Thanks lads. I can use a Mouse Click nicely, but I can’t have Revealed in the MACRO Builder - weird 👺

Marco. wrote on 12/20/2018, 8:20 AM

In the CS config panel there is a mouse-click (and double-click) action assignable. I just tried it and it works.

But this won't help if it should be combined with or added to another action for the same CS key.

Btw – which Macro Builder are you talking about? Is this delivered with the newer CS? I don't have it available (but I use AHK instead).

Grazie wrote on 12/20/2018, 8:26 AM

Yes... Marco, I know, and I’ve been using it for sometime now. But you WONT see it revealed in the MACRO Builder. In the MACRO BUILDER there’s a whole bunch of stuff. And this is why I’ve been asking the question about having a Mice Click KB SC. Do you see now? Please please please say yes? 🙏

Marco. wrote on 12/20/2018, 8:29 AM

I see part of it now but I feel somewhat captivated because I don't know which Macro Builder you're talking about. No such a thing here with my CS.

Former user wrote on 12/20/2018, 8:31 AM

I went to the CSP forum and this is a major complaint, that there is no Mouse click option in a Macro. I am trying to figure out a way to fool it.

The MACROs can be built under the CSP "Key Composer" Tab. Do you see that?

Grazie wrote on 12/20/2018, 8:42 AM

@Former user - Oh, kool!!

Former user wrote on 12/20/2018, 8:43 AM

Try this, you have to select the event first (no double click but I assume you have to select the event in your procedure now). Insert in your macro "CTRL-SHIFT-[". This will create a selection on the event your cursor is on. Does this do what you want?

"The MACROs can be built under the CSP "Key Composer" Tab. Do you see that?"

No, there is no key composer on my CS or in its control panel.
