What Will Motivate VP15 Purchase

IAM4UK wrote on 9/4/2017, 9:03 AM

I have eagerly awaited the release of VP15, having skipped 14 to see how this transition from Sony to Magix would develop. I want to upgrade if it becomes worth it. I think Magix is getting closer to making it worth it, and here are some things that would motivate me to upgrade:
- Fix preview (So4compoundplug.dll)
- Restore AC3 Pro
- Support AMD GPU for rendering
- Cut the price for VP14 owners (this doesn't affect me directly, but I want to deal with the kind of company that respects its supporters)

What would motivate you to purchase VP15?

Yes, that would motivate me. But also Mercalli 4 from VP14 must work with VP15.

i'm on the fence... dont really see too much value in upgrading at the moment... definitely not for the price.

i appreciate all the hard work that Gary and the whole team put into it, but probably am not the only one that is disappointed with it.

i bought vegas 14 only as a sign of support because there was completely nothing that would justify the upgrade (sorry, disable resample - that was the only thing that i benefited from), hoping that v15 will bring us a NEW vegas... but unfortunately it's more like 14.5.

was hoping for even the most basic tracker (like they have in Video Pro X), 360 editing (again, like they have in Vegas Pro X), basic multicam sync (like they have in Movie Studio [although i'm hoping that will be added in the next release]), ability to organize video fx, project media and few other small things (like option to pause the render?)

was excited to see "selectively paste attributes"... but even that is still flawed... pasting videofx on the clip that already has some effects applied clears them instead of adding. it should be an option to either add or replace (and ideally if you could chose what effects you want to paste... but that might be a pie in the sky)

and i think that clear statement about the policy for all 3rd party plugins bundled is a must.

I see things about the same.

Probably will wait until a few new builds tidy up the problems, then upgrade. I will need gh5 10 bit support sooner rather than later.

+1

Plus I'd like to see direct menu picks (or at least scriptable) for Replace FX Only, Append FX Only, and Replace Pan/Crop Only, as these are the most commonly needed, at least in my workflow.

I decide not upgrade. Think about it, you spent $200 for VP15 and you are no longer able to use Mercali V4 and you are no longer able to use Plural eyes. All the little upgrade on VP15 not worth all the problem. I stay with VP14 and all my others plugins working happily along side. I don't mind transcode my GH5 footages to Prores and VP14 are happily with it. I can careless for VP15 and keep my $200 in my pocket. Can't beat that.

Sooner has arrived, including the new 400 Mb/s 10bit 422. I just confirmed by downloading 2 of the .mov files made available from EOSHD site, created using the new test firmware that's released at end of September. The existing 422 10 bit 4K files are now readable in GH5 also. I think Nick also already confirmed this elsewhere.

Rock solid stability like in the early days of Vegas

GPU preview acceleration

Better media management

Optical flow slow motion

Native updated and advanced titler

Updated/advanced color correction plugins

Attack long standing annoying bugs and finish half baked features

Optical flow slow motion

That's one I forgot about. Yes please.

My current workaround is to render cineform intermediates using "flux." Works fine, but wastes time.

@Former user

Good to know about GH5 400 Mb/s files. I wonder if Vegas will be able to handle the GH5's "open gate" mode? (the pixel size being more than 4k.)

What would motivate me to spend? If I could actually get the software to run on my laptop - I'm about done with Vegas all over again - I had high hopes, All error logs indicate (specifically the GPU long) my laptop is compatible - but it seems otherwise.

EOSHD will make available shortly the hevc files, probably.

One long-standing gripe I have since Vegas Pro 4 days is their Waveform/Vectorscopes look very 8-bitish.

The Waveform doesn't have much depth to them. It looks transparent.

Compare this to a competitors Waveform

This looks more professional looking and easier to read. Just like the Tektronix scopes I've used in TV broadcasts.

If Vegas Pro 15 can offer adjustments to the scope like "intensity" to make it brighter would be a huge plus.
