I'd have to question that last statement, I'm unaware of any Vegas plug that works by calling for more than one frame at a time, it's certainly been cited by some as a reason why their plugs cannot be made to work in Vegas.

needed is an interpolater that adds frames from one "in focus" frame to the next "In focus" frame "linearly"

This thread is a learning point for me, too. By focus, are you referring to Motion Blur (i.e. the jerk of the camera is causing the image to move faster than what the shutter speed can cope with)? With this in mind, I would imagine that camera shake could wreak even greater havoc if the user has auto focus engaged. The camera might make some crazy attempts to adjust focus during the shake, wrecking even more footage after the camera shake stops (and focus adjustment is still trying to settle in on the image).

Yes. You can get a rough idea by really slowing down a small section of jumpy footage on the timeline and it will show all of the out of focus frames in slow mo. And once in a while you will hit one that is in focus. This is with pretty bad typical family videos. You know zoom in/out/in/out/in/out while jerking the camera back/forth/back/forth in auto. You can run it through Deshaker but the result is your eyeballs going into time warp trying to keep up with the focus changes. It's just God awfull.

Vegas can only serve one frame; what I meant was that the Sony engineers are very willing to spend time on the phone or in email dialog with third parties that are developing for Vegas.
I agree; I wish this could be done the same way some other apps work. I wish more however, for DirectShow ability first. Maybe with one will come the other.

Would I have bought Sony Vegas if I knew it has no working plugin capability even though I love the GUI - the answer is most definitely NO.

I do not consider a single frame under a cursor to be a working plugin capability - I do consider that to be a sick joke. Sony Vegas can not be considered a professional product without a working plugin capability .

I think this explains why Vegas doesn't have more market share among professionals. Professionals will buy plugins to meet particular needs where amateurs (that's not an insult btw) will prolly not go to the extra expense.

This is a hugely disappointing blow to Vegas in my opinion. I will be filling in the feature request as suggested and I would encourage everyone else to do so as well.
