Will Vegas Forum Die Like Liquid's?

There was a time when quite a few of the Vegas team used to voluntarily contribute here, but the attitudes of a few individuals made them wonder why they bothered, and now they mostly don't. Sad but understandable.

Good discussion and I understand the points made by all since my last post.

For the record, I do not (and did not) think that the Vegas forum would actually die. The people here are not the same as on the Liquid forums (though there are many similiarities as Blink3Times pointed out). I do find that there are many helpful people here and I enjoy learning from them and hanging out with them. My intention was to stimulate a discussion on this and ensure that it DOES NOT ever become dead like the Liquid forum. Thanks all.

P.S. That would be even better if we had a modern forum.

I like the look and feel of this forum software just fine. It's quick and easy to navigate and easy to read.

Ten-ish years ago I was killing time in a computer store's software section and bought something called Video Factory. I still have the CD-ROMs, with the manual. I was an immediate convert to NLE editing in a world of auto-crossfades and event plug-in buttons, both for sound and picture.

Years later, with VF having evolved into Vegas Pro 8, I sit in a night class in Final Cut Pro 6 here in L.A. just for the credibility, but in tonight's assignment (assemble a rough cut of clips over a music track), I used three-point edits and keyboard shortcuts for a few minutes, then to finish quickly I used the same workflow (mostly drag & drop and edge trimming, with markers for the music beats) as I use in Vegas. The teach explained that I had just jumped ahead several chapters, so please just slow down and learn the toolset. P.S. The teach told me privately he is well familiar with V8.

Vegas will always be the patient mentor that found ways for me to create my vision--not to shape my vision with its toolset.

Long live Vegas and its niche--and its forum.
