Thanks John, I will try re-rendering with your settings and see what happens. Will be back to report.

Was just seeing if I could create a listing of similar spec details from the file that won't play in WMV Player (though to note, it does in Media Classic or VLC) but Gspot won't provide a video rendering 'path' either. Only noteworthy thing about this file is that it's 50ffs.

For the web, I never think there's a good alternative to wmv. FLV always seems to be for streaming servers, and mp4 files still seem pretty rare, for downloading -- but maybe I'm stuck in the past somewhere! :) Wondering what format you render to most often (for web purposes).

I usually use Mainconcept AVC/AAC (*.MP4) Internet render templates in Vegas 11 or 12.

Mediainfo is the application to show the data about the video that I rendered. Uncheck any crap ware that is offered with the installation

I'd say you are living in the past ;)

WMV seems exceedingly rare for the past 10 years or so. MP4 pretty much rules the download world now. It's much better quality in a smaller file size. The only hitch is that Windows Media Player wasn't able to play it natively until somewhere around Win7 SP1, but there are addons available for earlier versions.

+1 main concept mp4. welcome to the present!

nobody uses wmv unless a (not well informed) client specifically asks for it.

x264 is better quality at normal internet delivery (2-5 Mbps).

to clarify, i work with canon movs mostly.

if i know i need something for the web, i render at 1920x1080 to main concept mp4.

if the particular content needs to look really great, i render to mxf or xdcam mp4 in vegas. then i make an 896x512 mp4 with handbrake, using the tweaks here.
