"Wrong thumbnails" in project media.

Hi All,

This used to happen every so often, but now it seems to happen more regularly, where thumbnails in the project media are referencing other media in the project - to the point where it even crosses media type (a video clip thumbnail is actually that of a PSD in the project, etc.). Likewise, there isn't a consistent circumstance that causes it, but it does carry over if you close the file and re-open.

The actually media itself is the right thing, but it is obviously an annoyance when you have to read every title, as opposed to being able to just spot a thumbnail.

And, unfortunately, yes - this probably wouldn't be so much of an issue if I were still in my 30s...

This unusual procedure has worked for me with VMS when this happens. Drag one of the "wrong thumbnail" clips to your timeline. Click away from it to deselect it. Then 'undo' to remove it. The thumbnails then correct themselves. Don't ask me why it's just another pc mystery.

I'll try that. Thanks.

I'm not sure if anyone is trying to "fix" this or prevent it, but I've noticed that it happens to me most often when I'm replacing .png files in Vegas projects that I later nest for animated graphics. I have results graphics for at least six swim events per swimmer. I have one starter project that I use by replacing the .png file in the Media Pool, rename the media file just to copy the file name and cancel then paste the file name into the new Vegas project name. I can do these operations dozens of times in a session. Typically the .png file have the same six file names but are stored in different directories by swimmer. None of these operations use libraries or any other kind of redirection except I usually create a Windows Explorer favorite for the project directory to reduce navigation time.

I tried to delete the thumbnails in AppData and tried the "put it on the timeline and then undo" trick - neither worked. It's a bother, but not as annoying as having to reselect the layout every time I open VP15, because some of the tabs are out of order and frozen. At least they're aware of the latter and are apparently working a fix in the next update.

I do appreciate everybody's input, though.

I have the corrupt thumbnails issue all the time with VP13. I now clear the cache BEFORE I start VEGAS and all is well until the number of thumbnails builds up again and then I have to repeat. Annoying but manageable. I work with projects with lots of clips and stills.
