I came across today and thought some folks here might be interested in his recommendations.
BTW, the guy is using Vegas 5 for all his work so that makes it even better :-)
I have uploaded lots of videos to YouTube, and followed their recommendations about using MP4, etc. This guy's stuff looks awfully good, so I'm going to try his template.
IIRC (and I should 'cos I wqas there yesterday) YouTube likes mpeg4 video at 320x240 amd Mpeg2or3 audio. I use the MainConcepts codex. Did a 90 second demo Ad and put it to YouTube yesterday in fact using these settings. You can see it here:
The music I crafted in ACID5. If you want to comape it to Flash I have a Flash version on a half built site at www.IndianBreadMixes.com/order.html
Seems like a good and simple method for the NTSC world but it would have been useful if he'd mentioned that 50i / PAL material should be rendered at 25fps.
(p.s. I sincerely hope that YouTube aren't increasing the framerate of my PAL material to 30fps. I've checked that the framerate of a downloaded .gvi video from Google Video is still 25fps but I'm not sure if it's possible to measure the framerate of Google's or Youtube's Flash videos).
I posted my results previously here
In my opinion his result would be about the same using either wmv or Sony mp4. I don't think his version of Vegas has Sony mp4 thats why he optimized wmv. I think his source footage has a bigger factor (pana dvx 100?) I would like to know how youtube treats video shot in progressive mode.
