@TTTT

To get the full throughput of solid state memory in NVMe disks takes more than two PCIe lanes.

After removing old Asus Xonar Essence STX from system, I ran 3DMark "Time Spy" again and got a slightly better score:

Yes, TimeSpy.
Also I had to close all other software. Previously I had Brave Browser open with YouTube and this forum.

Now, I got a result which says:
Graphics score: 17.419
CPU score 8.593
Score: 15.093 (Good)
Average 15.360
Best: 21.301

I don't think it's significant. I don't think if would justify running Vegas benchmarks again without the card.

I'll run 3DMark "Time Spy" again after I put the card back in the system.

(Also I purchased 3DMark in the process as it's currently low priced.)

3DMark "Time Spy" run with Asus Xonar Essence STX back in place (but not set as default sound output because I forgot and I have no idea if it impacts anything.)

And ... WAIT ... what went wrong???
Graphics score: 13.711
CPU score 6.280
Score: 11.644 (great)
Average 11.127

I"m interested in the stability aspect. You're a very good case study moving from 10 series to 40 series Nvidia.

If you see any changes now or in the future come back and update us 👍

Good morning,
I went from a 1070Ti to a 4070, I didn't see a big change in Vegas, at least not in editing.
In rendering, not much either, but my 9700K is 100% turbine when rendering.
Honestly, I expected more ease during editing, especially in 4K, but it's more the CPU that has to take the hit.
On the other hand, in game, it's something else 😁

@KiKoMaSo A gpu will only participate in decoding if you set Vegas to use it in the i/o screen and if your footage is something it knows how to decode. Nvidia can decode 8-bit avc and 10-bit hevc fine if the chroma is 4:2:0. Intel igpus are similar but yield better performance if you split the load. Late model Intels are the only ones that can decode 4:2:2 hevc. If a gpu or igpu cannot decode a format, the cpu has to pick up the slack.

For rendering, the gpu will not do the encoding unless you select a render-preset that uses it. Like Magix Nvenc presets to use the Nvidia. Or QSV presets to use an Intel igpu.

FX acceleration depends on the particular FX. Display optimization and screen capture are the only other things a gpu can accelerate, but only if your hdmi cable is plugged into it.

Merci.

So far, no or very very subtitle performance improvements. Vegas still as unstable as always, I keep one hand on CTRL+S whenever I have to use the preview window (I will actually bind it to a mouse button as I use a MMO-type mouse).
