RE: Building a new video editing computer
@eikira Any specific reason why you chose Intel? Because of iGPU? That's part of it. For clip formats that benefit significantly from accelerated decoding, like hevc and av1. Also got my eye on avx512 which could have a dramatic impact on all cpu

@Howard-Vigorita "Last official Windows release of MPC-HC is here..." There is continuing development of MPC-HC with updates released almost monthly. Here's a link to the latest release. https://github.com/clsid2/mpc-hc/releases/tag/1.9.14 As an

RE: Render through GPU/Not Render through GPU?
@Rednroll There's a Render Quality table, via my signature, of different codecs used, some used Cpu, others Qsv, Nvenc, Vce, and ffmpeg which is similar to Voukdoer in result. Cuda also. I've even included an AV1 codec. Most codecs can be used, not

RE: VHS C tape to Vegas
For digitizing VHS-C you need: 1. A still working VCR-player. 2. A VHS-C cassette adapter. 3. An AV-DV converter or a Digital Camcorder with Analogue inputs and DV-out. 4. A firewire (DV) input at your pc. (not standard anymore nowadays). 5. Time

RE: help with video capture using Vegas Pro 18 edit
@Richard-McMillian This is how I do it. Note that I recently tried on VP18 and only get a large black rectangle, and that was with “enable video capture” checked in deprecated features. I was doing several vhs tape captures about a week or so ago,

RE: Do you need dedicated GPU for Vegas Pro
See the speed and quality charts linked in my signature. Been doing speed tests for quite a few years now rendering to avc hd and 4k. Just started similar quality analysis for different codec settings and bitrates... the bitrates are directly

RE: new CPU i9-10900K or AMD Ryzen9 5900X?
The i9-10900K has the same uhd630 igpu as the 9900k that I have which will get you a decoding advantage over a 5900x if the video on your timeline is hardware decoder friendly and decoding intensive. Makes the biggest difference working with hevc

Quicktime install error, "file cannot be found in "Quicktime.cab"
I initially tried the two versions of Quicktime that have had for quite some time, and I got the same error message on install, then the install rolls back, is cancelled. In case the two Quicktime install files had become corrupted, I went online

RE: FFMetrics -- Yet another program for quality metrics calculation
Thanks but I want to start with raw off my camera sensor and the only supported conversion format I've been able to get Magix to drop onto the timeline is hevc lossless. Far as I know Zcam's ZRAW Video Suite is the only thing around that can read

    RE: NVIDIA RTX3070
I don't see much camera gear that would use AV1 as acquisition format.. Maybe. DaVinci Resolve must think there’s something to it though as it’s now added to their latest build. I.e. Support for decoding AV1 clips on Windows. Accelerated AV1 decodes

RE: [Closed] What are the top new features you'd like to see in Vegas?
@amir97 The feature request thread is here. This is a 4 year old thread nobody is checking anymore. If you actually upload in AV1 does YouTube still reencode it? Where can you get AV1 or VP9 files from? Does any camera shoot that these days?

RE: BMD adds HEVC 422 hardware decoding for Intel (+482 update)
I agree this is confusing. I checked a few sites before sharing this link- I do not believe that's 4:2:2 or it would say so. The updates here only state what is new compared to the previous version. So in 3 generations it goes from 10 bit 4:2:0 to 10

RE: Capture Device for Video8 / Hi8 into Vegas ??
I'm using a firewire PCIe card (USB is not compatible with firewire because packets vs bitstream) from a sony hi8 camcorder that has firewire bitstream out, and using that into vegas' built in capture program. I used to use virtualdub and AV cables

@dape “The render favorite saving issue was enough for me.” This is something that gets fixed, then comes back again, it is very annoying for sure, I really wish Magix would fix this for good. I tried the Shift+Ctrl and double click the VP shortcut

@Denicio I used the following method with source as a hi8 camcorder for my v8 tapes, as well as a vhs deck for my vhs tapes. I captured my vhs tapes using the Vegas capture software. I had an old JVC mini DV camcorder that takes line input. I

RE: FFMetrics -- Yet another program for quality metrics calculation
This looks like what I'm getting when analyzing your files through the AviSynth wrappers: The situation is almost the same if I use AV1.mp4, AVC.mp4 and VP9.avs: So yes, the file encoded with VP9 have better metrics. P.S. I tried to use FFMpeg

RE: FFMetrics -- Yet another program for quality metrics calculation
With that information I converted the vp9 to mp4, so not lossless but the results that were expected are now seen with vp9 being higher quality than AVC, or to be more accurate having more common with the AV1 which is assumed to have the higher

RE: FFMetrics -- Yet another program for quality metrics calculation
Interesting results. I think something wrong with ffmpeg's VP9 decoder. I created simple AviSynth wrappers for all videos, like this (LWLibavVideoSource is the only source filter I have that decode AV1 without installing separate

RE: FFMetrics -- Yet another program for quality metrics calculation
@JN- Thanks, I corrected that. Now I can see that the AV1 at it's small size isn't necessarily better quality, although I've heard it is. File size is much better rate controlled with the AV1 and VP9, if you post a black screen you'll have small

RE: FFMetrics -- Yet another program for quality metrics calculation
@lenard Looking at the files mediainfo, I think that the naming of the files is incorrect. The AV1 named file is avc x264 and the AVC named file is AV1. Even so, the data rates and file sizes aren't similar. Also the original is needed to compare

RE: FFMetrics -- Yet another program for quality metrics calculation
I compared 1080P YT versions, AV1,VP9 and AVC. The comparisons are made against AV1 with the belief it should be highest quality based on file size and codec. Can you see why VP9 does so poorly in the comparison, to my eyes when viewing the videos I
