I didn't keep track of exact upgrade prices, but VegasPro 13 was released by Sony and not by Magix. When we upgraded from 13 to 14, we paid the same price (in some cases even more) than newcomers. There was a lot of discussion at that time. So upgrading from 13 to 15 will probably be the same as new buying.
Buying the Suite version in my opinion makes no sense, you get the same VegasPro features as buying the edit version. The extra money you spend is for the add-ons which only you can decide if it's worth the extra money.
Someone who bought VegasPro 14, 8 days ago, he got a huge discount and that's a good opportunity to start with the Vegasline at a good price. That huge discount is always an indication that a new version is released soon, for those who missed the announcement a month ago, that VegasPro 15 is to be released on 28th of August.

The additional functionality upcharge is actually the amount you pay for the EDIT upgrade: which can be had for $179.
I also think the suite is not a good deal and buyers need to keep in mind the possibility of LICENSE LIMITATIONS for the bundled software. (See the furor over Mercalli v4 for example.)

But all you are missing is disk authoring (which hasn't changed in eons) and some bundled software with limited licenses and that keeps changing from version to version. Anything else?

Yes you are downgrading. Vegas Pro includes DVDA and if that gets finally and updated, maybe like authoring 4K BD, the you are stuck and will have to pay full price to get to where yiu where before upgrading to Edit only.

I am not sure where you have seen that HUGE discount information , I paid 199 euro for upgrading vegas pro edit 14 . ( have always paid 149 euro's at sony for upgrading vegas pro AND dvdarchitect ) .

For me DVDA is a Add-on. You need it or you don't need it. I don't need it, so why should I pay for it. The DVDA version added to the Vegas Pro 15 bundle is the same version as DVDA version added to Vegas Pro 14. At the moment I have two DVDA 7.0 licences (one from VegasPro14 and one from VegasMoviestudio 14 Platinum). So I'm downgrading when I don't buy it the third time? Are you kidding?

Therefore I'm glad that Magix took over. Sony put it's energy in a new NLE, Catalyst. Do you feel better with that NLE for 20$ a month?
I just stopped in to see what Vegas 15 brought to the table and determine if I made the right decision to migrate to Resolve. In my opinion nothing worth the price increase has been added. I've grown very comfortable here in BlackMagic land and plan to stay. Just my opinion, everybody uses this software differently.

Let me simplify it for you. With Vegas Pro you get two products, with Vegas Edit you get one. Once you have downgraded to Edit and you want the buy the future Pro version you will have to pay extra or full price.
To my opinion, that isn't true. You might might be paying more for the DVDA upgrade( what I also don't believe), but not more for the Vegas upgrade.

If I remember correctly, when Vegas 14 was first launched the price (in the first few weeks only) was the same for new users as for those upgrading from Vegas 13, etc.. This MAY be what 3POINT is referring to.

There has been several e-mail promotions in the last weeks for the VP14 versions while at the same time VCS already advertised the upcoming VP15 including the release date. For example on August 8th there was an e-mail promo offering VP14 Edit for $149, VP14 for $199 and VP14 Suite for 299$ (for first purchase new versions).

I am aware of that but this thread is about the price of VP15 now and not at the end of it when VP16 is about to come out.
It's an answer to those comments referring to 3Points comment "Someone who bought VegasPro 14, 8 days ago, he got a huge discount ". He is correct because those ones had discounts of up to $400 for buying a new license of VP14 and even the upgraders had at least a $50 discount.
