In the Euro countries you pay additional tax - both for Vegas what is charged with additional 16% even in the download, but for sure also for Edius. For the upgrade from Edius 7 to 8 you pay Euro 235 at the moment:

§ 5 Prices and terms of payments

E.g. for my latest MAGIX purchase (SFAS 12 UG download) I paid €29.99 (Euro country).

In case anyone was wondering Magix have confirmed (email recieved 5th September 2017) that the products bundled with V15 are likely tied to that version:

The bundled products are supported in the version of VEGAS they are bundled
with.  We are not able to guarantee future version support for each bundled
product.

I think this information should be on the production description page. I think all the upgrade prices are too steep.

Thanks for getting that out in the open.

It is very important for purchasers to know what they are getting. That is why I keep saying the bundles aren't really a very good deal, but that EDIT @ $179 USD is not bad. - Once they clean up some bugs :) Which I am 100% confident they will.

Kit-As-Was wrote on 9/5/2017, 7:00 PM

But where to get that deal from? I haven't found anything less than $195.

Videoguys...and others.

Thanks. I just got an email from New Blue indicating that this time around their products will last beyond the life of Vegas 15.

"Just upgrading the NLE buy buying the Vegas Edit version only you would downgrade yourself to a lower level. This would mean that in the future, you can also only upgrade to a new Edit version but not the full Vegas Pro unless you pay full price. That is my main issue with the argument that one only needs to upgrade to the new Vegas Edit version."

IS THE ABOVE TRUE??

I own VP Pro Suite 14 but don't really need the extra stuff that comes with VP Pro Suite 15. Question is: if I upgrade at a "lower level" does that mean I could not upgrade at the Suite level next time around? The discussion re Edit version would seem to indicate so but would like clarification as I want to proceed properly. Thanks for any help!

P.S. if so, the Suite is a death trap in that one would have to keep, eventually, mucho versions around for the add-ins as there seems to be no clear set of policies by the various involved companies on how they are handled with Vegas updates. And if so, the person who noted that purchasing only basic and buying add-ons separately gave good advice.

You sure can upgrade from Edit to Suite but surely at a higher price than from Suite to Suite.

Sorry for lack of clarity but my question was the reverse. As a Suite owner, if I opt to only upgrade to Vegas Pro Edit have I downgraded my license so that I would not be able to, at upgrade price, select VP Pro Suite 16 when it comes out. I read your response as saying no, if you do not upgrade at the Suite level anything else is a downgrade and would require full price to go back up. I'm just hoping this isn't the case but need to be sure as the 13th is around the corner. Thanks!

I don't see how my reply would be other way around. Anyways, only MAGIX can tell you for certain. I would ask customer support if you can upgrade from Suite 14 to Suite 16 at the same price as from Suite 15 to Suite 16. If you get an answer, let us know.

For the last Edius upgrade Grass Valley took € 298. True, they do nor publish upgrades every year, but the price is still higher.

Hi Wolfgang,

i think i know you from the edius forum (your avatar).

But with upgrading from Edius 7 Pro to Edius 8 Pro i got Edius 8 Workstation for free which cost

over €1.000,- this was a great offer and much butter then bundling software from newbluefx.

I often had problem with software from newbluefx and the support is not able to find a solution.

Some indie developers or very small developers like the AE Plugin Stardust - have a much better support.

So i really cant recommend newbluefx plugins for: Vegas, Edius, After Effects or Premiere.

If you like to find a more stable software - buy software from red giant because its worth its money.

Wolfgang S. wrote on 9/9/2017, 10:58 AM

I never liked the neblufx plugins too - for different reasons.

The free upgrade for Edius 8 including the workstation Version had a special background for the European markets as far as I remember, but that is another story.

Let me see if I got the upgrade pricing right:

V14 Pro Edit -> V15 Pro Edit : 199€

V14 Pro -> V15 Pro : 249€

V14 Pro Suite -> V15 Pro Suite : 349€

I own V14 Pro Suite and out of curiosity I placed the V15 Pro Edit in the shopping basket....:

V14 Pro Suite -> V15 Pro Edit : 199€

I think there is something seriously wrong with that picture.
