There's a veg at Sundance, but I don't think it has quite that many items.
However when you figure out the correct settings in the track motion dialogue, it's just a matter of typing them in one by one. I suppose you can rationalize by creating the top 20 tracks and copy them down. Then you just have to puch in the vertical posish for the 19 down-left. One by one you copy their number to the clipboard and paste it ot the next 19 items on your right. Piece of cake if you're sober.
Tor
"Piece of cake if you're sober. " - yeah, got that right . . 'cept I'm overdosing with caffienne cofee+tea . .. . but yes . . I like your approach . .
I've got Tsunami and thought I could do it that way . .I must be losing the plot on this one . . . eventually I wanna create a massiv Rubik cube of the stuff .. using the Satish 3D plugin . . yeah ? Should look neat if I can pull it off . . .tell you what IF I do . . I will have a beer . .. . or 2 or 3
or 4 . . .
Ho! I was around the London Bridge area this week - exciting area for the "Walking Tor" later this year . . .
I've done a 10 x 10 just to try Tsunami out - amazing - 100 tracks, a few seconds wait then "POP" there it was.
Don't know about the cube, but to zoom out from one of your 400 pics, Grazie, just put it in a track above and Track Motion it from a position "over the top" of where it appears in the wall etc - but you knew that ....
Let us know how the cube .... and the beer drinking goes.
I guess if each wall is made into a movie, it can then be 3D'd to become a cube side .... good luck!
Grazie, Tsunami will allow a 20x20. However, note that the video wall function is designed to use video sized clips so you'll need to resize your JPEGS to be the proper size before importing.
I've tried before with Vegas to lay out a group of stills/clips in some 2D space much greater than the size of the viewing area, then pan/crop the viewing area around that larger space. Basically failed and had to pan/crop each piece individually, which is a PITA.
Grazie, this wouldn't scale to your 3D rotating cube, but you might be interested in "mosaic" software, where you start with a main picture plus a library of stills, then the software selects from the library to create the main picture as a composite of the stills. I spent a little time playing with this and Vegas: A mosaic+vegas afternoon. Also, playboy had a good cover a few years back
Peter - "I guess if each wall is made into a movie, it can then be 3D'd to become a cube side .... good luck!" that was exactly what I intend to do - seems daft, but I think it will be okay . .I've got 14 days with this project so time enough to have "fanciful" ideas in good time before I get too near the deadline . . .
RMD! Woooaahh . . that perked up me Blood Pressure a tad . . . !!
Yes, you remindered me where I saw this . . excellent software, by the looks of things .. yeah!
I'm gonna keep this one "simple" but attempt a 3D-ish feel . . . I've got a cunning plan [ twists the ends of his moustache! !!! ] . . he he he he . .. .
Have no fear. It will be a Windows GUI.
Step 1. Tell it how many images across the width of the screen (i.e. 20)
Step 2. Tell it how many images down the height of the screen (i.e. 20)
Step 3. Point it to the folder where your 400 images are.
Step 4. Save the screen (which is now one big bmp with 400 jpg's on it) to your preferred folder.
Step 5. Import the bmp into Vegas.
It's looking good so far and hope to keep to the a.m. tomorrow bit.
I hope you guys aren't expecting too much. It simply creates a 'wall' of images from the jpg's you throw at it.
You determine the format, 5 x 5, 5 x 10, 20 x 15, 40 x 40 or whatever. The aspect ratio of each image is determined by the originals and the displayed ratio that you choose.
So if you select 2 images across and 8 down then they will look absolute crap.
You save the multiple jpg's as one bmp then import into Vegas.
Anyway, you will see what I mean tomorrow. Hopefully by 12 noon GMT.
Alan .. understood. Whatever combo it comes in, I'm sure to be able to use it . . I aint that fussed . . and getting "some" "feeling" of the extent of the size of the imagary will be great for me here . . .
I have just uploaded "PictureWall.zip" to the Sundance site.
I don't know when it will be available and I'm not sure it's what you want but some may find it usefull.
Grazie wanted a 20 x 20 format giving a wall of 400 still images. I have tested it up to 34 x 30 format which displays 1020 images (took a long time to build but far easier and quicker than pasting them manually).
There is a fair bit of automation built in so if you select only one image and go for a 20 x 20 format, the same image will be repeated 400 times.
If you select 39 images and select a format of 12 x 12 then each image will be displayed several times over until all 144 frames have been filled.
Please report any problems or suggestions via this forum.
And if anybody finds it usefull and can come up with a better name then please let me know.
Alan
Grazie (or anybody else)
If you're desperate and can't wait for sundance I can mail it to you.
HAHAHAH . . ! ! ! I've been at it since 3:00am this morning .. jst got back here for a break .. 1:00pm GMT . .. I'll "HOT FOOT" it over to the Sundance Site . .yeah?
Thank you . . .and all that made you where you are today . . !
Just been on to Sundance and it's still not there.
I don't think Spots away, I'm sure I saw his name yesterday!
It's called PictureWall.zip but I can't remember what section I put it under. I think the default listing is date order so it should just appear at the top of the page.
I suspect it will be some hours now because of the time difference.
Unfortunately I won't be on-line much today. Her indoors has got me washing cars etc etc etc.
