6 channels not working on SVP18, only static noise

anna-c wrote on 12/21/2020, 9:37 PM

I have downloaded videos of 1080p and a 6CH audio but as soon as I open them in SVP18 it's pure static noise, no matter what configuration I put. I've tried reseting the program, I've watched countless videos on youtube and gone through the forum here but I genuinely cannot find a way to fix it, and it's hurting my work. Does anyone also has the same problem, and if so, how to fix it? I work on an Acer i5 226ssd brand new

File type? codec? Post MediaInfo of the file's attributes.

I gave that a read and yeah, it probably is related although it`s not exactly the same issue. when i import the file with the 6CH to the timeline on VP it will only show me one channel and it`s pure static. the video works fine, but the audio is nonexistent and it blows my ears off. i think i`ll resort to downloading vp17 just to work for now.

VP-17 and 18 does not playback AC-3 audio, you will need to transcode to an alternate. See this recent post and search for other posts on the Magix VP audio and video forums.

AFAIK, Vegas has never supported AC3 inside an MP4 container--it imports AC3 only from transport streams (m2t, m2ts, mts) and VOB files. The best way is to render your ac3 to a 6-channel pcm wav file so as not to lose quality. This can easily done using FFmpeg or other apps that enable the copying of the video stream and only re-rendering of the audio stream. Or you can use the ImportAssist tool in HappyOtterScripts. Here's a link to a demo in which the original file was an mpg with 5.1 ac3. It works the same using an mp4 file.

In any case, just make sure that the app you choose only transcodes the audio stream and copies the video stream.
