Thanks Derek!

Thanks @VEGASDerek for accepting this bug, maybe Hitfilm can help with a fix.

my current Win10/64 system (latest drivers, water cooled) :

Intel Coffee Lake i5 Hexacore (unlocked, but not overclocked) 4.0 GHz on Z370 chipset board,

32GB (4x8GB Corsair Dual Channel DDR4-2133) XMP-3000 RAM,

Intel 600series 512GB M.2 SSD system drive running Win10/64 home automatic driver updates,

Crucial BX500 1TB EDIT 3D NAND SATA 2.5-inch SSD

2x 4TB 7200RPM NAS HGST data drive,

Intel HD630 iGPU - currently disabled in Bios,

nVidia GTX1060 6GB, always on latest [creator] drivers. nVidia HW acceleration enabled.

main screen 4K/50p 1ms scaled @175%, second screen 1920x1080/50p 1ms.

Working on that workaround:

1. Duplicate any clip on the timeline with the desired duration, copy & paste above

2. Set opacity to '0' by moving the slider all the way down

3. Sent to HFP6, slap on Title like Boris 3D extruded Text

4. Close HF6 and save changes

5. Change *.hfp clip to 100% opacity, voila, here's your title without any background!

so far so good. needs more testing

Just cleaning up some old "known issues". It looks like "Add HitFilm Effect" was removed from the context menu for EMPTY events in VP15 build 311 or later. It was not mentioned in any release notes but it is no longer available in VP15 build 416.

If anyone can see "Add HitFilm Effect" or "Edit In HitFilm" on the context menu for an EMPTY event in any version after VP15 build 261, please say so.

Personal conspiracy suggests that integration has been dropped to promote the use of the new Post bundle..sadly for users like me who have a current Hitfilm subscription which is cheaper than the crossgrade to the (reduced capability) Magix variant. Will check VP18..

It hasn't been dropped. HitFilm integration still works fine in VP18. Please don't spread such rumors.

AVsupport wrote on 8/4/2020, 5:56 PM

I've just upgraded to VP18, and using HitFilmPro V14.3.9931.38452.

When I select a clip on on the timeline and right-click I don't see a 'Send to Hitfilm'. But maybe there's something wrong, I hope to stand corrected, and sorry I do not wish to spread bad rumours, my apologies.

Will try to reinstall HFP and report back.

@AVsupport

Copy the file "HitFilm.fio2007-config" from your Vegas Pro 17 program folder to your Vegas Pro 18 program folder.

NickHope wrote on 8/4/2020, 9:26 PM

I have emphasized the "EMPTY" in my previous comment.

AVsupport wrote on 8/5/2020, 2:33 AM

Thanks @Marco. that fixed the integration.

And NO @NickHope empty events in VP18 can still not be sent for a roundtrip to Hitfilm unfortunately.

What exactly do you mean by empty events?

Systems:

Desktop

AMD Ryzen 7 1800x 8 core 16 thread at stock speed

64GB 3000mhz DDR4

Geforce RTX 3090

Windows 10

Laptop:

ASUS Zenbook Pro Duo 32GB (9980HK CPU, RTX 2060 GPU, dual 4K touch screens, main one OLED HDR)

Marco. wrote on 8/5/2020, 3:12 AM

The HitFilm workflow sends the source media to HitFilm. An empty event does not contain any media. For the same/similar reason no kind of internal generated media can be used for this workflow. It's due to how it works.

What exactly do you mean by empty events?

@fr0sty The type of event you get if you right-click a video track and choose "Insert empty event".
