Argh! Stop the double Preview!

Kit-As-Was wrote on 10/3/2017, 7:37 PM

I've forgotten what it is called but how to disable the "feature" where the timeline is disrupted by a double preview window (the view looks like when I was edting betamax tape over 30 years with source and output monitors). I know the esc key is supposed to return to normal editing mode only my Vegas 14 sometimes locks up after pressing the esc key and I end up losing my work. I guess I'm miskeying to get into that special editing mode but I don't need it and want to avoid it. But how? Thanks

Thanks for the link. That seems to suggest there is no way to turn off this annoying feature. I wonder if a new video card could help prevent the lock-ups when trying to get out of it.

It would useful to have a preference to disable this feature completely so that users don't get into Expanded Edit Mode by accident.

Yes, I get in by chance and then lose work trying to get out.

Press 5 on numeric keyboard, Easy and quick (and this a really useful feature!!).

yeah. this is a stopper if you accidentally double click the edge of a clip. and it takes 15 seconds to exit Expanded Edit Mode on my PC. I suggest to map it to Toolbar button instead.

Perhaps, even probably. But 15 secs? Nearer 5 maybe --- and that's hardly major!

Agree, a "switch" to turn it off would be good.

Although I bet there will then be lots of posts saying "why doesn't my expanded edit work?" and still ones asking how to turn it off. :) I'd actually like a keyboard shortcut toggle to expand a track to A/B and to close it again.

In the meanwhile, how 'bout using those keyboard shortcuts for navigation instead of double clicking around the timeline? [[[[[ [[ [[ ]]]]]]] ]]]]]]]]].

The numeric 5 does this.

No, that's expanded edit mode. I want "expand track layer" which is slightly different. Right click on the track header to see what I mean.

Sorry you are right. One is a single track, and one is the whole timeline so it is probably why there is not a shortcut for the expand track layer. You have select the track you want. If you have a contour shuttle, you might be able to make a macro to do this.

Great idea! Except I already ran out of buttons. :) gotta' love the shuttle.
