Hello! I'm a Vegas newbie with a problem: black preview when an effect is applied by clicking on Tools > Video > Media FX but no problem when effects are applied by clicking on the thumbnail fx icon. Any idea?
I'm having a VERY similar issue right now, having problems adding MEDIA FX to any media, whether 4K or 1080p.
The problem occurs with "Brightness and Contrast" for me -- tested also with "Border".
When my video processing is disabled (Video tab of preferences), it literally crashes when the effect is added to the media. When it is enabled, the output is black. There are a few other odd behaviors too...
Here's my post on the forum from about an hour ago:
I have a GTX 1050 and am seeing no issue with border or brightness and contrast with the current Studio driver.
I downloaded the OP's video (note you can hit the button next to the smiley face and upload it here in the future). It was the stabilization effect applied at the media level with translation + rotation on. I added a UHD XAVCS file to my timeline and did the stabilization effect at the media level. No blackout here when the Fx window is open or closed.
@DavitArt Could you also make the original bird video available via wetransfer to see if that's the issue?
Can others replicate this problem with media level Fx?
Sorry guys but I had a very busy work week which kept me away from the important things in life (Vegas Pro 😂). I think there is no solution, at least for now. The problem occurs with almost all filters (when applied to the entire clip via Media FX). I formatted the hdd and reinstalled win 10 home and vegas pro 20.0.214. I haven't installed the chipset drivers because Windows recognizes the motherboard perfectly and I haven't installed the nvidia drivers either because they are downloaded and installed automatically. Unfortunately the problem also occurs with the very clean system, both with (PAL) 2160p/25fps clips and with clips shot at , 1080/100 and 1080/50. Thank you all!

NEWS 1) The problem, as already mentioned, occurs with the nvidia gtx 970 video card and updated driver. 2) The problem also occurs when using the integrated gpu in the i7 4790k processor. 3) The problem does NOT occur by disabling both gpu from Preferences > Video > GPU acceleration 4) Without gpu acceleration the preview during video stabilization works fine but vegas crashes at the end of the analysis
@DavitArt I downloaded your files, placed them on the timeline so that it is a 1920x1080.
I had to look at your supplied video to make sure I was doing exactly what you were doing. And yes, it is black when you are viewing the timeline playback of the stabilized footage in Preview Quality dropdown menu, Preview>Auto. But change it to Good>Auto and on my computer, the video plays back fine.
All working perfect for me, no loss of video in preview window at any time before, during and after video stabilization. using 1080Ti GPU and latest driver. Also no issue at any setting in the preview window.

I confirm this problem with timeline preview set to draft and Preview , works with good or best settings. I thought on draft and preview it could be trying to read a proxy file, so created one, made no difference
@DavitArt And what was the solution exactly? Other users could possibly benefit from it. You could also mark the post that helped you the most as the solution.
This is odd. I downloaded the footage, overlapped it and added video stabilize as a media Fx but don't get the blackout in preview or draft mode. I'm using my 2080 Super for this test, current studio driver.

Solution: change the preview quality from preview>auto to good or best
