I'm just starting my finishing work on a project after my main editor finished her MultiCam edit.
I'm trying to add Brightness and Contrast VFX to one of my 4K media, and right after the MediaFX dialog appears, Vegas Crashes with this error:
Problem Description
Application Name: VEGAS Pro
Application Version: Version 20.0 (Build 214)
Problem: Unmanaged Exception (0xc0000005)
Fault Module: C:\Program Files\VEGAS\VEGAS Pro 20.0\OFX Video Plug-Ins\Vfx1.ofx.bundle\Contents\Win64\Vfx1.ofx
Fault Address: 0x00007FFCEC79F5F0
I can add this to an event without it crashing -- I can add it to a TrackFX and it does not crash -- but adding it to any Media causes this crash. Tried with both 4K and 1080p media clips. Also tried with "Border" VFX and same crash/error. I've used these FX for countless years without issue on this computer.. grrr.
This is a repeatable problem. I created a new project, inserted a media file, right-click choose Media FX, add "Brightness and Contrast" click "OK" -- MediaFX dialog appears and then Vegas crashes.
- Performance Monitor does not show my CPU, memory or either GPU utilization anywhere near max when this happens.
- I downgraded my Radeon RX 470 driver to the Vegas-recommended WHQL driver (the description says "Adrenalin 22.5.1 Recommended WHQL", but after installing and rebooting, it's showing as System Version 30.0.15021.11005)
- When this is happening, GPU acceleration of video processing is set to "OFF", File/IO tab showing hardware decoding taking place on "Auto" (QSV on Intel HD Graphics 630). "Enable legacy HEVC decoding" is enabled. I share this info realizing that this probably is NOT a decode issue.
To make things more curious, I enabled "GPU acceleration of video processing" so it's now using my Radeon RX 470. Different results with this, but still not correct.
- Adding Brightness/Contrast to the Event still works properly
- Adding Brightness/Contrast to the Media results in a "BLACK" (blank) image on the preview monitor (but does not crash)
- Adding "Color Grading" to the Media works properly. Adding Brightness/Contrast to the Media AFTER the Color Grading effect in the Media FX chain and Brightness/Contrast works correctly! If I put it before the Color Grading FX, black image in the output and none of the Brightness/Contrast controls have any impact
HELP?!
