Few months later and still doesnt work?
Can someone check it on Vegas 15?

OldSmoke wrote on 9/14/2017, 11:38 AM

FYI. VP15 also crashes with Defocus and Starburst. That's with the Fury X and driver 17.1.1. I will try it with a later driver but I have no hope.

no issue here on V15, I used both defocus and starburst simultaneously on a clip, (but it was also fine on V14)

The VEGAS Pro 15 build 311 release notes state "Improved stability of the Defocus and Starburst effects when running with an AMD GPU".

Could those with an AMD GPU with driver 16.12.1 or later please test and report your findings? Summary of this issue is in this comment.

I found this thread and was wondering if VP15 is still having issues w/ the Defocus effcet w/ the Radion 390 series cards.

I was trying to use Defocus on a memorial video but VP12 keeps crashing. I got rid of my NVIDIA graphics card and purchase a Radion R9 390X because other members here recommended it.

Unfortunately I just had to make due w/ Gausian blur but it definately didn't look as good as Defocus. (;

Thanks

Hi Nick,
I finally tested my copy of VEGAS Pro 15 Build 311 to see if Defocus FX works. The FX indeed works without crashing VEGAS Pro. Starburst does seem to work as well. I am on Windows 10 Pro (1703) with a Radeon Sapphire Nitro RX470 4GB (17.12.2 driver). I am hoping that MAGIX/VCS would fix VEGAS Pro 14 as well because VEGAS Pro 14 is more stable than 15 on my machine.

I've tried "defocus" effect in VP14 and it just crash when gpu is on (rx480 here), integrated HD530 works fine so it has to be a bug related to AMD card, I'm gonna report this too, the more the fastest gets fixed

Just purchased the upgrade to VP15 and tested the defocus effect and it seems to be working w/ my ATI Radeon 390.

NickHope wrote on 5/27/2018, 6:15 AM

Anyone know if the "Defocus" and "Starburst" FX are still GPU-accelerated for NVIDIA GPUs, or was GPU acceleration disabled for them in VP15 build 311 for NVIDIA as well as AMD GPUs?
