Build 244 is available!

Shady wrote on 3/27/2017, 8:27 PM

What is the deal with updating Vegas now that Magix owns it?

1. There is no way to check for updates directly in the software

2. You have to dig through forums to get ANY info. The last info I can find is build 211 !!!!

3. I just happened to re-download from their main page and discovered Vegas is up to build 244 now...wth

4. I would love to know what the heck the fixes are for each build. Where is that information?

Am I missing something here?!

Frustrated

Just download a new version as if buying it off the product page.

It seems that there is also a new DVD Architect build 7.0.0.54

Hi Grazie and company. An official post (with links and a changelist) is coming shortly but build 244 is an official Vegas Pro 14 update.

Going forward, Vegas Pro 14 will have the ability to alert users to the presence of an update. So after build 244 is installed it gets easier to know when something new comes out.

Thanks,
Dave

Depends on your definition of "New".
My latest install of build 54 was on 18- 02-'17

So it was an already old "new" one... Obviously, I don't use often DVD Architect !

My "Save As" and "Open" windows started opening with columns for #, Title, Contributing Artists and Album instead of Date, Type, Size etc.. I had to reset them by right clicking on a column header and choosing the columns I wanted. Using Windows 10. Anyone else?

Shady wrote on 3/28/2017, 12:35 PM

My guess is the windows folder structure option has been changed to say the folder contains music only. You should be able to change that back in Windows explorer.

Thanks. I was able to change them back as described in my post. Never seen this type of change before, and VP13 still gives me the usual columns. Just wondering if build 244 has triggered this or that it's something coincidental with my particular system.

1. Another way to do the trick is to go to the upper levels of folder structure in this same "browser" and instruct browser to handle your folders of interest as containing "general stuff" / unsorted documents, not Music - it's in Folder's Settings.

2. I did not encounter this behavior.

3. Vegas still can't quit normally. Due to Vegasaur.Extensions.2.dll

1- Duplicated frame for HEVC and ProRes file seems to be solved. Quantize to frame as well.

Not so in my testing I'm afraid. Still getting repeat 1st frame when 23.976, 29.97 or 59.94p ProRes or HEVC footage is opened, and the end still not quantized in most cases. I think (hope) these are decoding problems, not encoding problems.

I did not see this Nick.
All normal after 244 install. Also W10.

1. No need to do that much work.

What is to be done is to go to the upper levels of folder structure in this same "browser" and instruct browser to handle your folders of interest as containing "general stuff" / unsorted documents, not Music - it's in Folder's Settings.

Thanks for the clue. I think it may have been down to the accidental presence of one .wav file amongst a couple of hundred .veg and .veg.bak files in my projects folder. Just puzzling how VP10, 12, 13 and 14 build 211 all see that folder as "general stuff" but build 244 sees it as "music".

Tested with Prores encoder only.

25 & 50p don't have duplicated first frame and are quantize to frame at the end.

24p no duplicated first frame but is not quantize to frame at the end.

23.976p have repeated frame but are quantize to frame at the end.

29.97 & 59.94p have repeated first frame indeed but are not quantize to frame at the end.

And now encoding to ProRes create the temp file in the same folder as the final rendered file (a opposed to Windows temp folder before)

The latest build(s) you'll see at your Magix account.

29.97 & 59.94p have repeated first frame indeed but are not quantize to frame at the end.

The repeat frame and unquantized end only ever occurred for me in build 211 with non-whole-number frame rates. i.e. 23.976, 29.97, 59.94. It was always OK with 24.000, 25, 30, 50 etc..

In build 244 tests yesterday all the ends were unquantized except for one 29.97 test. I guess in some certain circumstances the final frame just happens to "line up".

All my results were identical (in terms of this issue) between ProRes and HEVC.

I really don't think the issue has been addressed at all but I look forward to the release notes.

And now encoding to ProRes create the temp file in the same folder as the final rendered file (a opposed to Windows temp folder before)

That's a useful improvement.

5- HEVC YUV420 10bits file can be read, but not YUV422

This is not new. Build 211 can read HEVC 10-bit 4:2:0 MP4 & MOV files. Still waiting for 4:2:2 and higher.

The "Titles & Text" doesn't work anymore. They are not animated after I installed build 244.

No problem here. Can you give us some more details, and perhaps share a .veg project file.
