Can't drag or drop files to my timeline

GerryA wrote on 9/22/2021, 6:18 AM

Hi All,

Since my update from Vegas Pro 16 to Vegas Pro 19 i can't drag and drop audio or videofiles from the explorer to the timeline.

Steps i follow
1 File New
2 File open
3 I select any audio or videofile and try to drag it to the timeline But only when i selct all files in the folder i can choose OPEN but al the files are placed after eachother.
I'm used to just drag and drop from my folder to the timeline, found an very old instruction (Vegas 9) But even that won't do.
What am i missing here?
I already resetted Vegas to it's factory defaults, without succes. And i guess i'm not in the right thread, sorry for that

Can you give a screenshot from your open projectmedia map or explorer map with the files you want to drag, together with the opened timeline?

None of this files can't be dropped on the timeline, except when i choose to open them by selecting the file and press the open button.

I've had problems dragging files in directly from Windows Explorer before. I think the solution was to run Vegas as administrator - or not as administrator - I can't remember exactly - you'll have to try.

However, as problems are often described with Windows Explorer - in cooperation with Vegas Pro - I use the Explorer window in Vegas Pro.

That is not the explorer you have to use.
You clicked to open a project file (.veg)
The best you drag from the Vegas explorer

or Project Media

@j-v is exactly right. You're showing the Open dialog which is for projects, not media. You can use the methods j-v lists, or, if you prefer, File | Import | Media

I'm doing this exactly with project media and it's not working. Vegas 20 build 403.
Any ideas on what I can do?
