So. Vegas Closed:

First disable all the utv related (utv_vcm, utv_dmo, and probably in audio tab too) no good rating about it.

Next disable all MP4 / 264 related.

Reboot, check Avicodec to show if states are like you want, launch Vegas and try to import.

Uninstall ffdshow. Make a restore point if you want.

After uninstall, did you check the staying codecs and filters with Avicodec?

I meant, did you check if the ffdshow filters was unsintalled with it or keept on your system?

The goal is uninstall filters.

 

Otherwise, if possible, install Vegas on a clean VM and try.

RESOLVED

Just to put this on the record, because I doubt there is another animator on this forum who works the way I do. I have figured out how to export my AVIs into Vegas 17. The error was somewhat mine but not entirely because Vegas 17 must have changed and improved the path I used in 16 to now allow me to export my files in such a way that the clips I am working on in TVP can update my files (as I work on them and periodically save) into the Vegas timeline while both software remain opened. Each time I save to my TVP project as a *.tvp file my WIP is simultaneously transferred as an AVI file and refreshes the VEGAS file in its own timeline. Absolutely wonderful!

very very late but I was able to use ffmpeg to get the file working in vegas, but now with the latest update i don't need to do that anymore. importing the original file works now. don't know why lol
