still hangs with one or the other off or both off, beggining to think this version 17 came out a little too soon. Anything else you can think of before I give up and try to get a refund.? I hate to give up and tech support does not seem to have a grasp on things

You deactivate your GPU for everything and you still receive a GPU error?

joseph-desaavedra wrote on 8/13/2019, 12:45 PM

nvopencl64.dll .. don't know if you call that A GPU error or not, I think this release is just buggy as scrap and should have remained in beta a LOT longer. Tech support has not jumped in with any credible solutions other than refer me back to here. I guess I paid 199.00 to be a beta tester for a product that does not work.

When I open up Vegas 17, it loads to 100%, and then just freezes. I am unable to access my project. How were you able to get ahold of Tech Support? I tried calling the phone number NUMEROUS times, but nobody has picked up.

yeah, well I have emailed them but they take one or two or even longer to respond and so far have offered almost no help what so ever, all they did was refer me back to links in this forum that I had already followed up on. I am getting the idea that I may have just blown 200 bucks on software that is not ready to come out of alpha testing not to mention beta. I feel like I know more than they do about their own software. I am a little frustrated.. while writing this email version 15 crashed after I added a plain test fade to my current project.. I gave up on 17 as it seems beyond repair.

nvopencl.dll is the OpenCL interface by NVIDIA (as the name explains). Your GPU is always crashing. That is why we asking first to deactivate the GPU to find a solution... but your only answer is that VEGAS is still using it and your card is still crashing.

joseph-desaavedra wrote on 8/13/2019, 3:05 PM

yes, it is stills crashing after turning both of those off. so it is my video card crashing not Vegas 17...or are you saying deactivate my GPU? I guess I am a little confused. you told me to turn one or both of those settings off and see what happens, I did that and it continues to crash.

I had those errors also and I deleted the error files in Windows /System 32 and uninstalled the Intell and Nvidia drivers and after a new start of Windows I installed the newest ( and thus now the newest Studio 431.70 for Nvidia ) driverversions for my 2 available GPU's ( Nvidia 1050 and Intel graphics 630) and all my problems were gone.

Ahh! I remember. I have an AMD board with with 16 core thread ripper. I let DDU try to remove intel drivers anyway when I went through the process. BTW tech supports response after 24 hours was to tell me I needed to have it installed on my c drive.. well I already knew that and never had it any where else.. guess hey did not look at the data sheet I sent them. now I have to wait another day for them to tell me something else that is not relevant to my issue. ;(

well, I have worked with tech support in Germany for a couple weeks now, they have offered no credible help the program still crashes and is sluggish. I have tried everything here in the forum. You name it I did it. I would build a whole new system around the software if I thought it would help. I have clean installed and and spent many many hours trouble shooting this "not ready for Beta" abortion at the expense of video production. I am faced with with learning another platform as I really question the credibility integrity of this product line. The Technical support is not even rising to the level of a bad joke, which is on me as they got my money and I got nothing functional. when 17 does run it is sluggish and tends to hang before crashing and I do not have a slow system, I am at end game. What system does this actually run smooth and well on??? Tell me! I am all ears. who do I contact for a refund? Or do I just reverse charges?....Joe the disgruntled.

I would like to suggest another possibility: you are not competent to troubleshoot this issue and should get a local PC expert to help you. Tell them it's been clearly identified as an NVIDIA GPU problem, and see if they can fix the driver install or get you another working GPU. Don't feel bad, you don't have to be a PC expert to edit videos, but you do have to call "the plumber when the house is leaking."

No offence is intended.

Please provide:

- Screenshot with NVidia GPU driver info

- Screenshots from Vegas that shows where you disabled GPU

- Link to results of dxdiag (you can store file on pastebin or dropbox for example)

You can also try the following:

- Run Vegas in Windows 7 compatibility mode (you should already try this at this stage as this mentioned in Vegas Troubleshooting FAQ)

- Check you GPU stability using FurMark GPU Stress test

- Use Driver Update program (DriverEasy or similar) to check what drivers in your system are very outdated. DO NOT UPDATE DRIVERS FROM THE PROGRAM. Check only. You may consider updating them manually by downloading drivers from manufacturer web sites.

- Install fresh version of Win 10 on separate drive. You do not need to rid of your current OS. Disconnect your current system drive and use separate drive. Install MB, GPU (Studio) and Audio drivers only. Then install Vegas and try.

none taken.. I am competent..it seems when no one has any credible suggestions they always question whether I am a legitimate user or my competence. Is the 1660 TI a bad choice? is a question I would like answered or even what hardware others use that this software functions well with. Yes I have isolated it down to Vegas not talking correctly to the GPU and have worked through all troubleshooting, but I am not too big to ask for help and can tolerate subtle jabs. The only help I got with any meaning was from this forum, outside of a few insults that got me no where.

@joseph-desaavedra

I am honestly glad you did not take offence. So, from a competent pro point of view, let's just do things that push the ball forward rather than waste several weeks getting frustrated and blaming the software. First thing: unless you are 100% confident that you have properly uninstalled and reinstalled with DDU, then do it again. Second thing: rip that GPU out and replace it with something else. Can be a cheap spare or just buy something returnable locally. It may not be the problem, but you have not eliminated it as a suspect either.

Re hardware: my low-spec setup works fine / no crashes. See signature. There are vast numbers of Vegas users with NVIDIA cards too. Some have already posted here that it works fine for them.

joseph-desaavedra wrote on 8/27/2019, 11:56 PM

yeah, I have tried several versions of the drivers clearing them with DDU..also did a clean re install of windows 10 taking care not to let windows install the drivers and putting the newest studio drivers in. Will see about the video card, always looking for an excuse to buy a new one even know I have only had the 1660 TI about 6 months. better with AMD cards? I have moved away from AMD in the past few years. Any hot card you suggest for the trial? since I can run over to micro center and snap one up to see if it helps. I have to shoot and edit a video tomorrow it would be a good test.. (subway new product).

My only interest it to have a stable platform to edit with, I do not do much of anything complicated other than key framing text overlays and credit rolls and about 4 to 6 video tracks. I am just used to VP and don't want to learn another platform.

It is possible that you are doing something not as it should be done and repeating the same mistake over and over.

This is why another pair of eyes sometimes can help. Unfortunately, you are not providing any information other than "I've done this". I do not think someone will be able to help you in this situation.

Also, some of your claims are a bit strange and looks suspicious, for example:

- You disabled GPU in Vegas, the GPU card should not be used at all.

- You provided only single log record. How someone here can be sure that you have the same issue with another version of drivers?

P.S. If I understand correctly, you do not have such issue with VP14 that you also have. Is that correct?

that is correct vp14 was pretty stable, it would hang sometimes but would recover after about 5 minutes but that was on another machine, I have long since replaced.

I have worked through about every trouble shooting suggestion and thread and do not want to go through a bunch of redundant information again. Kinvermark is correct at this point in the game it is time to rule out the GPU and Friday I will take the 1660 TI out and put a AMD Radeon RX VEGA 64 GPU in my machine and see how it behaves. It is remotely possible there is a problem with my own GPU. Or it could be VP.. you never know.. could be having issues with a new NVIDIA card. Actually I have sent several crash logs to tech support, but they have gone silent on me. One after formatted my drive and re installed the OS and only had VP installed. So far they have been totally useless.

If you have useful suggestions focused on making the machine work let me know.
