Hangs and crashes after about 3 minutes of editing, done all the check lists updated and back dates drivers, everything and still this same error I sent off to tech support. No one responds and tech support does not exist. is this a working software or a scam? I just want it to work and have run out of options. I have used all versions 14 through 17 and it only got worse as the software matured. Help!

@joseph-desaavedra Did you update your Nvidia drivers? Nvidia studio drivers are recommended: https://www.nvidia.de/Download/driverResults.aspx/149151

ram17 wrote on 8/9/2019, 9:19 AM

I wonder if he really ever contacted Magix support & basis of saying it doesn't exist. Sorry for this but are you using a legit version of Vegas?

joseph-desaavedra wrote on 8/9/2019, 9:47 AM

I can't find the link to support after looking for over an hour on the site, I have followed this forum, and yes I have a legit copy just purchased 17 two days ago. And yes I have the newest version of Nvidia drivers, I have been working through all these posts. I would not be here if I did not have a legit product, I would have moved on by now to another platform. I am sort of vested momentarily to find a solution. so far I have gotten no where. All I am looking for is a solution to an easy duplicated issue, not here to justify whether I am legit or not, that does not help me with the issue. I would not post a question if I had not worked through every suggestion already posted.

First of all you ask if Vegas is a SCAM or IS THIS SOFTWARE WORKING? Are you really even a user of a four generations of Vegas (14-17) & asking that questions here?

2nd, you said Magix support doesn't exist.. Really? If you can't find then why didn't you ask in this forum first to where it can be found, if you didn't see it then you concluded it doesn't exist.

you gave me the link I could not find, Thanks! I am frustrated, but questioning my validity as a user does not help me fix the problem. That is all I am interested in, not spending time defending myself from flaming.

Maybe this:

https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/nvopencl64-dll-causing-vegas-pro-16-to-crash-after-a-few-seconds--113815/

Clearly a GPU issue. Probably some weird interaction. May need to do a deep uninstall of GPU drivers (see Guru3D's DDU software for this), but first check your intel on board GPU setup.

You can search this forum for nvopencl64.dll.

fr0sty wrote on 8/9/2019, 10:35 AM

I'm assuming nvopencl refers to "Nvidia OpenCL", so the NVidia GPU driver is a good place to start. As stated above, it could be a bad installation that needs to be cleaned out and re-installed. When you re-install, make sure you are using the Studio, not Game Ready, driver.

The funny thing is I reverted back to version 15 as it was the most stable version to get caught up on my editing. it would crash but not all that often and was not worth going on a major ordeal to get it fixed. I took an unfinished project from 15 and loaded it into 17 and it crashed within 2 minutes, the setting are about the same in both. Leads me to think that it is some sort of a bug unforeseen at release. Video processing software it pretty complex and has a lot of dependencies. I do not go on a major fixing run unless it is pretty back and just paid for an upgrade. thanks for all your help guys and I did not expect someone to pop up and say "Oh that's what the problem is and this is how to fix it". Hopefully tech support will come through and say just that but not holding my breath. Hopefully some day a patch or update will come out or I will have a brain storm and come up with the answer. Until then I will be working from version 15 and probably migrate to Davinci or something like that. Just a steep learing curve and don't know if I will be faced with similar problems down the road.

Continue to Crash as on last post in this forum. I edit for about 5 to 20 minutes and it hangs and give ,me the above error message, it does it all the time, got 17 with high expectations and so far I feel a little let down, I submitted this to tech support and have heard nothing back at all, I am going to send them the meta data on my system. I am open to ideas, I have gone through this forum and tried everything. For now I am reverting to version 15 (the most stable version) only crashes once on everything third or fourth video I edit, I can live with that, but 17 is a no go. I so wanted it to work and hope it will come to pass.

well heard back from tech support. They seemed to know no more than I do, referring me to the the same links you all suggested and some that I came up with through search and worked through them multiple times with no better results. So currently version 17 will not work and is useless to me. His best suggestion was disable my intel onboard video (which I do not have on my motherboard), which tells me I uploaded all the specs for my system to him for nothing as he obviously did not look at them. So ... yeah! I am disgruntled..and Yeah! I have every right to be..you all gave better advice that did the technical support team.. wow... at this point I expect folks here to start questioning if I am valid user... since there are no solutions to this issue a this point in time.

@joseph-desaavedra Could you please do some tests in order to locate your problem?

  1. De-activate Hardware Decoding in Options->Preferences/File I/O
    • Restart & re-test
  2. De-activate GPU acceleration in Options->Preferences/Video (Set combo box to 'Off')
    • Restart & re-test

Thanks!
