Crash after about 3 minutes of editing "nvopencl64.dll" error

@joseph-desaavedra

So, presumably you can now point to a single media file and say - that file (type?) causes a crash. Great! Post MEDIAINFO of that file as soon as you are able. Are other media types causing a crash or just all files of that type?

Also, is your system overclocked?

joseph-desaavedra wrote on 9/4/2019, 3:00 PM

1:no system not overclocked at all, everything pretty much default

2: all video files are AVC..no individual file seems at fault, the only way the system did not crash was with all video tracks removed. removing one at time had no effect. will have the metadata in a few

@joseph-desaavedra

Would it be possible to you to post a short sample of file? I (we) can try to reproduce issue on my(our) system (mine is older of your).

Is it your power managment set to shutdown your "E" Drive after some minutes? Or is it an external drive?

So, to summarize....

1) Threadripper CPU with AMD Vega 64 installed.

2) Vegas 17 crashes when you add mp4 1920x1080 media from Canon camera. Vegas 16 works fine.

3) Media drives are local, not networked.

Please confirm. Post sample problem file if possible.

joseph-desaavedra wrote on 9/4/2019, 4:17 PM

Power management has all drives powered up all the time and the computer is not allowed to go to sleep.

I have some shorter clips from this video, how would you like me to send? I can have you ftp directly from my machine if you would like or what ever is easy for you..If you are familiar with ftp I can give you IP login and pass otherwise let me know.

On another note probably going to upgrade the video card from 1660TI to a 208o TI to get a little better playback during edit..but that is nether here nor there.

joseph-desaavedra wrote on 9/4/2019, 4:22 PM

1: Thread Ripper.. Vega 64 went back to Amazon today as it proved it was not an AMD vs NVIDIA thing in my mind.. I have a 1660 TI Gigabytes version

2: Crashes after adding and editing about 1 to 2 minutes of video. 16 is a ton better but will still crash at times, I have been known to do two videos with out a crash, seems related to having text overlay video tracks, the more tracks the less stable

3: there are no networked drives at all, I have 3 NVME drives and an 8TB mechanical drive and a couple docking stations usually powered down.

4: where to post sample. and you want source video right?

OK. Not ideal as you are reverting back before we have a chance to help; but it is what it is...

Do you have problems with ALL media or just this type?

Post your project settings too.

PS Don't need to share to anyone particular; just post a link. My Vegas 17 trial just expired so I will now have to test on 16. Perhaps whydat or others can conform vegas 17 behavior.

All my media is AVC..it does not seem to matter..If I could isolate it to one media source , then I would have a clue as to why VP is unstable for me.

whats the best way to capture my project settings? they are all default except 60fps, disable re sampling, full resolution rendering is set to best. Source media is recorded at 60fps.

I have to go out now, hopefully someone can test in Vegas 17 soon.

Thanks for your helpful comment, I think it is almost fixed now thanks to you. It IS on c drive. A little lame that VP requires that but, but my faith in this platform is on a backslide although I continue to try. If you would have read this thread you would know the answer, I am here to try to make this work. so far I have gotten no where, Tech support email has proven to be a waste of time. the only credible suggestions and help have only come from here outside of not so subtle attempted to provoke and flame.

I've same Vegas build of your, so to this point it's faith, but zoom in, zoom out, crop, rotate, cut, fade, transition, mix, effect, text, renamed... no problem, perfectly stable.

All of that with numbered thumbnails, forced resampling, 2x frequencie, and so on...
