Crashing whilst loading larger media file

Hi,

I use movie studio 14 platinum. I used to make youtube videos over a year ago with this software and no issues. but now seems to be crashing when trying to add some larger files (although pretty sure its smaller than past videos)

So i made test clips, using same game and same recording software when i was testing volumes and mic recording ect. and when i do the add media, they added fine but when i try adding a full recording it just crashes. File im loading is MP4 970MB and 50mins long. Definitely used bigger files in the past so not sure what the issue is. (i have actually recorded this twice now and both times tests are fine but full video just causes crash)

let me know what info would be useful / how to get it and i would be happy to provide. Thanks.

Thank you for the Info.
That file is encoded with the HEVC codec.
VMS 14 Pl cannot load HEVC files.
You need to use a newer program or convert those files to AVC.
A free program to do that is Handbrake that you can download from its site: https://handbrake.fr/

Maybe another codec used?
MP4 is only a video extension, it says nothing about the used codec for the video.
You have to publish also the MediaInfo of such a (small) file.

Also which do i need to use? i tried top one but that removes my mic audio. is there no saving the mic audio at this point?

H264 means AVC video and the top one is good enough. The audio has its own settings right of the video settings.
Maybe also good to choose one of the available presets but you are also able to make your own preset.

Not sure why it would be different. captured from the same software using same settings. looks pretty much the same. details below. Also still trying to fix the audio but doesnt look like its gonna work. take an hour make each change so slow process

Looks impossible to me, at least on my installations with Vegas Movie Studio 14 Platinum source files coded with H265 will not load.

think im cracking, have tried again with the smaller files, its doesnt crash but i do get an error. think i must have just been loading it in a video player (when i check its picking up my mic ok) and think i just got mixed up. my apologies and thanks again for the help.
