Customize mouse wheel behavior

In Vegas 18, can I customize mouse wheel behavior? (specifically I want to reverse the "scroll up/down" and "zoom in/out" behavior).

I would like to have the normal mouse wheel to simply scroll up/down
And when I hold control + mouse wheel, I would like it to zoom in/out

That would give me the intuitive behavior I personally prefer.

No, that's, seemingly, WAY down on the list of "priorities," unfortunately. I had asked for that a long time ago. Programmable mouse buttons is one of the niceties you'd find on other Magix products, but for some reason, they have not cross influenced, at least in the GUI, which deserves a rethink. (Suggestion: Samplitude GUI guys, contains some real marvels) I believe that, early on, (since Vegas originally was an audio only program) the mouse was reserved, also, for several different audio features, several audio faders inclusive of (doesn't show on pic) the surround panner.

Pet Peeve alert!! The mouse pointer hover-over+mousewheel control of pan, in the track list field, (stack of respective tracks' controls on left of GUI) and other faders should absolutely be made either switchable or combined with a modifier key, or only apply in the mixer area: very squirrelly to have your pan control moving around when that is the last thing your trying to do.

All of that said, you DO have Control+ Mousewheel for vertical scroll. Better than nothing. (BUT, your mouse pointer must be in the track view field, IOW, where your events reside, and NOT on the track list (track controls) to the left. Not especially well-thought-out, sorry to say.).

It would be great. in addition, to have a smooth scroll (vertical) as opposed to click scroll (clicks to new position, track by track, no matter how tall the individual track.) To Gary, et al: these suggestions are all towards a faster more fluid compositing experience, (already your strong suit, but seriously knee-capped by a few "should be obvious" ommissions) which I - and I'll suppose many others - use Vegas extensively for, so we want to move around the track view in even more fluid manner, also, have a keyboard based (like right arrow, left arrow) selection of next event, and have that event reflect in the already open pan/crop/mask editor which DOES happen but only, per now, with contrl+Mouseclick selection (Mouse is slow, keys are FASTER and better, almost always). Also, put keyboard manipulation of color wheels, as does happen in the most of the standard (and yes, old) interfaces, e.g.: Secondary Color Correction. If you've ever actually used this stuff, you DON'T want to do small increments with the mouse, (even with modifier) horrible, and a step backwards, actually.

Here's my no cost physical solution. Or $30 roll of the dice if I messed it up. The wheel unintentionally moving all the time annoyed me so much the chance seemed worth it. As a last ditch effort before disabling it in the Windows driver. Took apart my Logitech m705 wireless mouse. Had to peel off the battery label and 2 front feet to expose a total of 5 screws. Then lifted the top cover off and carefully disconnected 1 connector between it and the circuit board. Next I placed 3 layers of gaffers tape between the plastic piece that straddles the mouse wheel so it rubs gently against the indentations of the wheel as you turn it. 2 layers might work but I went for 3. The tricky part is sliding the tape into place before it sticks to the plastic piece... a little cellophane on the sticky side helps. After reassembly the wheel only turns when I want it to. It's actually quite a convenience using the wheel to scroll or zoom stuff compared to pointing and clicking/dragging. No more aiming to click on a + sign and missing only to get an unexpected Customize Toolbar menu.
