I'm trying to do a roundtrip from Resolve to Vegas using XML files.

And I encounter problem with timecode when importing back to Resolve.

 

1) I export proxy files in DNxHD or DNxHR from Resolve

2) Import those files into Vegas - this is the first issue. After importing more than 30 files Vegas just freezes or crashes. All DNxHD & DNXHR codecs are installed, Quicktime also installed.

3) If I export proxies from Resolve in different format than DNXHD - like Quicktime MP4, or MP4 - they are imported well in Vegas, but after export of XML, and importing this XML into Resolve I got second Issue - Resolve doesn't import those XML, because proxies doesn't contain the right timecode.

 

So I need to export proxies from Resolve with other codec, or make Vegas to "understand" DNXHD somehow...

 

Did anyone know how to solve this?

Try to avoid codecs that would require QuickTime in Vegas. Have you tried XAVC-I proxies?

Does Resolve have those codecs?

@Ustik No it does not, sorry but it can read it. How do you create your proxies? From within Resolve? It has an option to export MP4 files that play better in Vegas and don't require anything related to QuickTime.

The only solution I found is to render Prores Proxies in Resolve on my Macbook Pro, and continue from that point.

Have no idea why Magix didn't include DNXHD support in 2018.

The problem is with QuickTime. It's 32bit on Windows and causes issues when you import or want to work with a large number of files within Vegas. I was under the impression the VP14 and later can read ProRes without QuickTime? Maybe someone else can chime in here. How about creating proxies in Sony's free Catalyst Browse which is also available for Mac.
