I'd have to say if you can't be competitive using Vegas 4, you may need to take some more editing classes or get out of the business all together.

Quite a brash statement with nothing to back it up with.

Jeez - that's sure to get a result - why didn't I think of that?

Zippy,

Actually, Vegas 5 WAS released, but we all conspired to keep that from you.

Sorry everyone for breaking the pact :-(

Dang it Gary! Now Zippy's gonna hound us all mercilessly until we tell him where the forum & download links are. *sheesh*

dont they have a big convention in April when all that crap gets released??? Itll be ok Zippy.. I think well have it this spring..

I bet this though.. Some will still use the old Vegas because the new Vegas although improved will also have some limitations that V 4 did have.. Just me being cynical I guess..

Like for instance 24p on a Panasonic DVX100 why would Sony support that?? isnt that shooting them in the foot.. On the other hand for them to remove that would probably hurt them as well.. Lets hope for the best.
Chienworks wrote on 2/10/2004, 3:47 PM
I don't think they'd remove that feature. Very few people will choose a Panasonic Camera over a SONY camera because Vegas supports it. However, *many* people might choose Vegas or not depending on it's 24p support for other cameras.

I can't believe you still work with version 4. Why didn't you update?

Actually--Zippy deleted version 5.0 when he took my advice and deleted all references to Vegas in his registry.

Now that we're being open about this, I don't seem to have V5's new "Generated Response" tab any longer. It used to be right next to Generated Media. Does anyone know how I can get that back?
Jessariah67 wrote on 2/10/2004, 8:03 PM
Oops! Didn't read the fine print:

>"Please note that the new GENERATED RESPONSE tab is only good for 5 ZIPPY posts in the Vegas 5 trial version."

Sorry about that. Guess it's time to spring for the full version...

Geez, Zippy, I'm disappointed. You were doing so well, and here you fell off the wagon. No VEGtables for you, young man.

Get real. At version 34564 oil has been outlawed in cars for nearly 60 years. But who drives a car anymore anyway?

Anyone else getting fed up with thought-spam? I can't remember the last time I had a clear thought, purely of my own.

Where I get the beta version of vegas 5 ?
Chienworks wrote on 2/11/2004, 5:04 AM
Luiz, if you find out, let us all know.
rextilleon wrote on 2/11/2004, 5:42 AM
All you need to do is go out to Wisconsin--I think this Sunday is the day. You can get on line--most people will be camping out. Bring your laptop so you can get some work done.

Where can I get Vegas ZipPro ? (aka Vegas 5)
Jsnkc wrote on 2/11/2004, 8:15 AM
I live in Madison, WI. Were already up to Vegas 6, they release all the new versions to us before anyone else. They put a ad in our local paper The Onion letting all the Madisonites know how to get it. Vegas 5 was OK, but wait till you guys see Vegas 6, it is unbelievable!!! I think it will be out for the rest of you sometime in 2007 :)
busterkeaton wrote on 2/11/2004, 9:09 AM
I don't know how you can say Vegas 5 was only OK. The RUB STIX feature is incredible. Vastly improved over 4. I had complete NLE newbies RUBBING STIX, MAKING FIRE, in like ten minutes.

Also the feature that allows you to adminster selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor medication through a USB port is fantastic. If you combine that with a mouse with a scroll-wheel, that is an amazing tool. For example, you get frustrated because you haven't read the manual and you don't understand the basic operations, scroll the wheel up. If you find your own self-image is affecting the way you view your software and you are keep searching for the tiniest flaws in your NLE, scroll the wheel down.

The documentation is great too, since it now includes not only the Vegas manual but also a copy of Daniel Goleman's Emotional Intelligence. A lot of software documentation tells you how to use the product, but how many tell you how to cope with your feelings as you use the product.
