Disable Click & Drag Loop

James_Patrick wrote on 3/28/2020, 12:19 PM

In Vegas 17 when you click and drag it automatically creates a loop region. Is there anyway to disable this or make it do something else or nothing at all?

When working on smaller projects this is only a minor annoyance. But when working on larger projects it becomes very annoying since Vegas uses a lot of resources for some reason to create these regions. Which sometimes stall my machine and disrupt my workflow.

So if someone can point me in the right direction on how to turn it off I would appreciate it. I tried using google but only found responses on what to do after not how to prevent it from happening completely.

Thanks

Thanks I'm more looking for a way to have them not be created at all. This is a quick way to collapse them which is great. But my issue is with the time it takes to create them in the first place, this is what I would like to prevent.

Did you try that setting?

Yeah that just makes it so when you click out of the selected area it disappears. I'm looking for a way to have them just not created at all. Since it is that selection process that stalls my machine. It's one of the few tasks in Vegas that give me problems. And the fact that it is automatic and occurs so frequently in my workflow, I was just hoping there would be a way to disable it completely.

“Since it is that selection process that stalls my machine.”

If that’s your only complaint, maybe you should be discussing your hardware?

I'm trying to figure out how to disable something. That is the problem. I am looking for a way to turn the problem off.

I can also change my workflow or just switch to like premier or something.

That would not solve the actual problem of Vegas automatically selecting stuff with no way of disabling it.

I sense your frustration. I suspect the behavior is in the DNA of Vegas and you won't be able to turn it off. I've been wrong before, but I've seen it since Sound Forge 4.5, probably longer.

There's a spot on the timeline right above the time or frame markings where if you click and drag it will create a selection. I am able to create a selection perfectly fine using the I and O keys. But for some reason when creating a selection by clicking and dragging it causes lag. And to add insult to injury it happens to be in an area prone to accidental and unintentional selection. Which occurs either by moving your cursor and just holding it a little too long, when dragging your timeline and clicking that spot instead, or sometimes just clicking while previewing your project will create a selection as well. These are just some of the ways it happens unintentionally. Which is why I was looking for a way to turn it off.
