Does Vegas 15 introduce new delay time ?

ritsmer wrote on 8/30/2017, 4:54 AM

If I edit in V15 and change to doing something else like quickly checking emails etc. then, when returning back to V15 everything seems to hang for a couple of seconds before V15 becomes responsive again.

After checking emails V14 is instantly alert without any delay.

Have I done anything wrong or is this new delay by design ?

If by design it really will require some familiarization for me to get used to it.

Hardware: Intel i7 4930 6 phys core with 16 GB RAM and a Radeon 480 card running newest Win 10 version 1703.

Try set "Options -> Preferences -> General Preferences -> Close media files when not the active application" OFF

This may not work as well with multi-Vegas workflows, but should definitely help when just working with a single instance of Vegas with multiple events.

If you are editing a lot of MP4 media sources and read the media using the new so4compoundplug.dll, I guess this is the issue. Or, you can try temporarily disable it.

Thank you Set - that did it.

All the media files are on SSD-discs with 6 Gbit interface.

But: Just strange that I always have closed media files in V14 too (needed because I often prepare and use the files in different instances of V14 at the same time) - without seeing this delay that now shows in V15 (editing the same renamed project of course).

This might have also to do with the new so4compoundplug.dll. You might disable it like Nick describes.

ritsmer wrote on 8/30/2017, 5:55 AM

Ah, yes: disabling the S04 Compound Reader did the trick.

Now I can "close media files when not active application" without getting this delay.

Thank you.

As Nick wrote, take a note on that change. You might want to reverse it on upcommings Vegas pro versions.

Right - and done.
